November is Geoff Johns Month in the Dark Multiverse

New one-shots with even darker takes on ‘Blackest Night’ and ‘Infinite Crisis’ will arrive in November.

As revealed in their November solicitations, DC will release two more one-shots in their new “Tales from the Dark Multiverse” line.

The What If?-style one-shots re-imagine past DC storylines with “a twisted and terrifying spin.” In November, look for new takes on the Green Lantern event “Blackest Night” and the Justice League event series Infinite Crisis. Both events were written/spearheaded by Geoff Johns and were pretty dark in their own right.

More details below …

TALES FROM THE DARK MULTIVERSE: BLACKEST NIGHT #1

Writer Tim Seeley (Nightwing) and artist Kyle Hotz (Swamp Thing: Roots of Terror) team up with cover artist Lee Weeks (Batman) to retell the tale of the Green Lantern event — but this time, the Black Lanterns win.

The original “Blackest Night” event ran through multiple titles back in 2009-2010, with the focus being on the Green Lantern titles of the time. Various dead DC characters were resurrected as Black Lanterns during the story.

TALES FROM THE DARK MULTIVERSE: INFINITE CRISIS #1

Writer James Tynion IV (Justice LeagueJustice League Dark) and artists Aaron Lopresti (Wonder Woman) and Matt Ryan (Damage) team up with cover artist Lee Weeks for this dark turn on DC’s mega-event Infinite Crisis.

The original Infinite Crisis ran for seven issues back in 2005-2006, with many tie-in comics published alongside it. The story began with the return of several characters from the 1980s event series Crisis on Infinite Earths, like Earth-2 Superman and Earth-Prime Superboy, who had gone off to their happy ending when the multiverse disappeared. If that happy ending was erased in Infinite Crisis, well, this one sounds even darker, esp. if you’re a Blue Beetle fan:

TALES FROM THE DARK MULTIVERSE: INFINITE CRISIS #1
written by JAMES TYNION IV

cover by LEE WEEKS
DC’s mega-event “Infinite Crisis” saw the destruction of the Trinity, the rise of Alexander Luthor and Superboy-Prime, and the rebirth of the Multiverse…but it all started with Ted Kord, the Blue Beetle, who saw it all coming and died with secrets that could’ve saved the world. But…things happened differently in the Dark Multiverse! Not only does Blue Beetle survive— he thrives! And after killing Maxwell Lord himself, Ted sets off a chain of events that irreversibly alters the lives of the Justice League and his best friend, Booster Gold. In trying to prevent a crisis, Blue Beetle becomes the Crisis…and the Dark Multiverse will never be the same.
