‘She Could Fly’ lifts off from Berger Books

Christopher Cantwell and Martín Morazzo team up for a new title from the Dark Horse Comics imprint.

Dark Horse’s Berger Books imprint, from former Vertigo editor Karen Berger, will add another comic to its flight plan this summer — She Could Fly by writer Christopher Cantwell and artist Martín Morazzo.

Cantwell is the co-creator and showrunner of the AMC drama Halt and Catch Fire, while Morazzo has been the artist on such comics as Nighthawk, Elektra, Great Pacific and Ice Cream Man. Miroslav Mrva, who has worked on Ghosted and Foolkiller, will provide colors.

Tobin and Susini’s ‘Made Men’ digs itself up in September

One of Frankenstein’s descendants looks for revenge in Detroit in the new miniseries from Oni Press.

The dead will return in September thanks to Paul Tobin, Arjuna Susini and Gonzalo Duarte, as Made Men arrives from Oni Press. The miniseries revolves around Detroit special ops officer, who happens to be a member of the Frankenstein family, looking for revenge.

Starks, Gabo warm up for ‘Dead of Winter’ from Oni Press

Plaid Hat Games’ popular board game comes to comics.

In advance of this year’s C2E2 convention in Chicago, Oni Press announced that Kyle Starks and Gabo will team up for a new horror-comedy mini-series based on the board game Dead of Winter by Plaid Hat Games.

The story will feature Sparky, a former canine TV star turned undead killing machine, as he tries to help survivors out during the zombie apocalypse. I couldn’t tell if he’s a fixture of the games or not, but if so, boy do I want to play them now.

Kirby and Simon’s ‘Fighting American’ returns from Titan Comics

Titan Comics has announced the return of the Fighting American, Jack Kirby and Joe Simon’s 1950s commie-punching patriot.

They’ve tapped Gordon Rennie (2000AD, Starship Troopers) and Duke Mighten (Judge Dredd) to essentially pick up right where Kirby and Simon left off in 1954, at the end of the comic’s seven-issue run.
