Erica Schultz + Michael Dowling pit Elektra against Crossbones in ‘Daredevil: Woman Without Fear’

The four-issue miniseries kicks off in July.

Elektra Natchios will once again headline her own miniseries in Daredevil: Woman Without Fear by Erica Schultz and Michael Dowling, which kicks off in July.

The four-issue miniseries will see the assassin- turned-superhero head out on a quest that will take her to Madripoor and put her in the crosshairs of Crossbones, the new Punisher and more.

“To say that I am excited about writing Daredevil again is an understatement,” Schultz said. “I love the mantle of Daredevil, but I really love Elektra as Daredevil. Having written both Matt and Elektra wearing the red DD, I kind of lean toward the latter now!”

Marvel marks 60 years of Daredevil next month

Saladin Ahmed, Aaron Kuder, Ann Nocenti, Stefano Raffaele, D.G. Chichester and more will contribute to the oversized ‘Daredevil’ #8.

Marvel will celebrate the 60th anniversary of Daredevil next month in Daredevil #8, an oversized issue featuring multiple stories by past and present creators who worked on the title.

And there’s a lot to look forward to in the anniversary issue. It will include a main story by Saladin Ahmed and Aaron Kuder, who relaunched the title last year and cast Matt Murdock as a priest, as he continues to battle demons based on his own seven deadly sins. Other creators contributing to the issue include Ann Nocenti, D.G. Chichester and Erica Schultz, who have written Daredevil in the past, as well as the two artists I most associate with the character: John Romita Jr. drew the main cover, while Frank Miller did a variant.

Daredevil goes ‘Giant-Size’ in June as he faces a possessed Kingpin

Saladin Ahmed and Paul Davidson bring a very different Wilson Fisk back into Matt Murdock’s life.

Daredevil’s past and present will collide in Giant-Size Daredevil this summer, as regular Daredevil scribe Saladin Ahmed and artist Paul Davidson show what happens when the demonic forces making Matt Murdock’s life a living hell in his monthly title decide to take control of the Kingpin.

“I’ve always loved villain POV stories, and Wilson Fisk has the ultimate street level villain POV,” Ahmed said. “We went really big and bloody with this, bringing Kingpin back in a huge way, and I can’t wait for fans to check it out.”

Chichester returns to Daredevil for the first time since the 1990s for ‘Daredevil: Black Armor’

The retro miniseries kicks off in November.

Writer D.G. Chichester and artist Netho Diaz will return to the scene of the crime in Daredevil: Black Armor, a “retro” series from Marvel that will return to the time period when Daredevil wore armor.

“If someone told me earlier that I’d have another chance to put on Daredevil’s horns (let alone horns attached to a suit of black armor) I’d have thought they’d taken one too many whacks to the head with a billy club. But apparently my passport to Hell’s Kitchen still works just fine!” Chichester said. “It’s an unexpected (but welcome!) thrill to visit Matt Murdock’s neighborhood again, and to work with Marvel on going back in time to discover a new adventure for the man without fear.

Chichester wrote Daredevil for about four years in the early 1990s, including the “Fall of the Kingpin” storyline. He also wrote the Daredevil/Batman crossover that came out in 1997, but hasn’t done much in comics since the 1990s.

Rest in Peace, John Romita Sr.

The iconic artist of ‘Amazing Spider-Man’ and art director for Marvel passed away at the age of 93.

John Romita Sr., one of the greatest Spider-Man artists of all time and the amn who defined the look of many Marvel characters across several decades, has passed away, his son reported on social media. He was 93 years old.

“He was the greatest man I ever met,” John Romita Jr. said on Twitter. He said his father passed away “peacefully in his sleep.”

While Romita’s career started in the late 1940s with runs at Timely and then DC, where he drew romance comics in the late 1950s and 1960s, he’s best known for his long tenure at Marvel. He joined the company in 1965 to draw Daredevil, but soon replaced the departing Steve Ditko on Amazing Spider-Man, the character he’d most be associated with.

Saladin Ahmed + Aaron Kuder will take over ‘Daredevil’ in September

Chip Zdarsky and Marco Checcetto’s run ends in August.

With Chip Zdarsky and Marco Checcetto’s epic (and Eisner nominated) run on Daredevil coming to an end this summer, Marvel has announced that Saladin Ahmed and Aaron Kuder will take over the title in September.

“I wanted to only take this job on if I felt like I had a new, unique take on Matt and on Hell’s Kitchen,” Ahmed said. “And so that’s at the center of this… him and his world, but it’s the Marvel Universe. What I’ve really enjoyed in talking with other editors, other offices, is finding ways through these first couple of arcs we have planned to keep this centered on Matt, keep this centered on his people, in his world, but to bring (in a very organic and surprising fun way) some familiar Marvel figures that I think are going to blow people’s mind when they pop up on the page!”
