NYCC: Dwonch, Balboni + Faccini team up on ‘Banshees’

The new series from Scout Comics arrives in stores in February.

Scout Comics has announced a new horror/mystery series coming next year called Banshees by the team of co-writers Dave Dwonch and Jessica Balboni, and artist Riccardo Faccini.

The story features two college freshman who find out their dorm is haunted by the ghosts of three women who were killed by the same serial killer — and who must then convince the ghosts to help them bring the killer to justice.

“Banshees is everything I love about comics; a coming-of-age story that blends horror, mystery and crime noir in ways I haven’t seen done yet,” Dwonch said. “I can’t thank Scout enough for believing in the work, and I’m beyond stoked to be a part of the Scout family. Buckle up for a wild ride, folks!”

Dark Horse announces ‘Jenny Zero’ for April

The ‘hard-drinking, hard-partying’ daughter of a superhero goes monster-hunting in April.

Dave Dwonch, Brockton McKinney, Magenta King and Megan Huang are teaming up on Jenny Zero, a new series about the ‘celebutante’ daughter of a superhero who tries to give up the party lifestyle to become a superhero herself.

“When Dave and I started working on Jenny Zero we wanted to get back to the idea of making ‘fun comic books’ simply for fun’s sake,” said McKinney, who is co-writing the comic with Dwonch. “And the end product, the idea of an ass-kicking lush who hunts monsters, most certainly is. But as we worked, and as series artist Magenta King began to bring Jenny and her world to life, it also took on the themes of self-responsibility, parental contrition, and the idea that no one but yourself can define who you are. All that, set against the backdrop of off-the-wall characters and otherworldly creatures. But yeah, in the end, it’s still very much about getting a good buzz on and going monster-hunting.”

Bryan Fuller’s canceled shows find new life in ‘Mind Palace’

Dave Dwonch and Santi Guillen bring back Hannibal, Ned the piemaker and more in a new webcomic.

If you were a fan of Pushing Daisies, Hannibal or Dead Like Me, there’s a new webcomic that’s just for you. Dave Dwonch and Santi Guillen have created a “love letter” to Bryan Fuller‘s canceled TV creations in Mind Palace.

“It’s clear that Bryan poured his heart into every single project he’s worked on, and his genius is obviously there on the screen. I can only imagine how much it must have hurt losing any of these shows. You go through the grieving process and tuck the memories into your mind. That’s the real premise of Mind Palace,” Dwonch said in a press release.
