Lester of the Lesser Gods, which was originally published by Albatross Funnybooks, is finding new life at Dark Horse this year.

Written by Eric Powell and Lucky Yates, and featuring artwork by Gideon Kendall, Lester began life as unproduced animated short before finding its way to comics.

DC Comics will release a print collection of the digital series Speechless by cartoonist Gustavo Duarte in April.

The series has been appearing on the DC Universe Infinite app, with three issues featuring Harley Quinn, Cyborg and Superman appearing thus far. Like much of the Brazilian creator’s comics, each chapter is wordless.

Yang + Chang bring the Monkey Prince back to comics next year

Gene Luen Yang and Bernard Chang reunite for a story featuring the character they introduced earlier this year.

Following his debut in the pages of DC Festival of Heroes: The Asian Superhero Celebration earlier this year, the Monkey Prince will leap into his own maxi-series next year from Gene Luen Yang, Bernard Chang and Sebastian Chen.

The shape-shifting superhero and his friends are inspired by the 16th-century Chinese novel Journey to the West, which is considered one of the “four classic novels” of Chinese literature.

The first issue will arrive on Feb. 1, which is Lunar New Year.

Titan Comics announces ‘Blade Runner Origins’

The prequel to ‘Blade Runner’ will kick off in February.

Titan Comics will take a look back at the creation of the Blade Runner division from the popular film franchise in a new series called Blade Runner Origins.

The creator team for the series will be Mike Johnson, co-writer of Titan’s Blade Runner 2019; K. Perkins of Batwoman, Wonder Woman and Supergirl fame; and screenwriter Mellow Brown (American Gods).

Now that they’re using multiple distributors, it makes sense that DC Comics would launch a new means for communicating distribution information vs. just limiting it to Diamond’s Previews. That seems to be DC Connect, a new, downloadable catalog they announced this week. It contains information on upcoming comics and graphic novels, with plans to expand it to include “talent interviews, preview pages from upcoming stories, behind-the-scenes looks at projects in development, multimedia content and more.”

DC announces ‘Year of the Villain’ 25-cent comic

The almost-free comic arrives a few days before this year’s Free Comic Book Day.

Just prior to Free Comic Book Day, DC Comics will release a 25-cent DC Year of the Villain comic that spotlights several villains and sets the stage for future stories.

The book will include stories by Scott Snyder, Brian Michael Bendis, James Tynion IV, Jim Cheung, Francis Manapul and Alex Maleev, with a cover by Greg Capullo. Variant cover artists include Maleev and Cheung, as well as Stanley “Artgerm” Lau.
