Following the release later this month of Come Find Me: An Autumnal Offering, DSTLRY’s seasonal anthologies will continue in December with Through the Boughs: A Yuletide Offering.
The holiday-themed anthology will include stories by an impressive list of creators, including James Tynion IV, Patrick McHale, Jim Campbell, Jensine Eckwall, Ryan Andrews, Sweeney Boo, K. Wroten, Grim Wilkins and Molly Mendoza.
“There’s something special about the holidays,” Tynion IV said. “I’ve always been drawn to the strange little stories we like to tell each other in the dead of winter, the strange warmth that comes from the coldest months. I can’t wait for everyone to see the strange little story I’ve cooked up here with the incredible Jensine Eckwall.”
The collection is co-edited by DSTLRY’s marketing/PR guru, Sean Edgar, and their head of operations, Bryce Gold. Gold joined the publisher last year after working at Comixology and Kickstarter, and in this press release DSTLRY announced he’s added duties at the publisher as head of talent development, where he will oversee the outreach and development of emerging writers and artists.
“Through the Boughs is a wonderful first step in merging established storytellers with writers and artists who are early in their journey,” Gold said. “I’m ecstatic to help empower new voices in the sequential art space, and I can’t wait to continue that mission in future projects.”
The anthology features covers by Jenn Ely and Natalie Andrewson, shown above, and probably others once it’s all said and done, but the publisher seems to be keeping them under wraps for now.
“This book is pure cottage-core, fire-toasted wonder, perfect for anyone who craves the eerie beauty and ancient magic of the frozen season,” Edgar said. Look for it in December, just in time for the holidays.
