Archie Comics will give another of their older concepts a modern spin, as they’ve announced a new Jughead’s Time Police title by Sina Grace and Derek Charm.
The original series ran for six issues back in the early 1990s. It featured a mysterious organization that drafted Jughead into its ranks, and using a special beanie, he could travel through time with his partner January McAndrews — who, yes, was a descendant of Archie Andrews. She’s back for this new series as well.
“Jughead’s Time Police is a beloved concept that was screaming to be modernized, so once we read Sina’s pitch, we knew we were in business,” said Archie Comics Co-President Alex Segura. “He honors what came before but gives the idea a much-needed jolt. I can’t think of a better artist to bring it to life than Derek, who had a stellar run on the main Jughead title — which kind of feels like a warmup for this!”
Here’s how the publisher describes the new series: “When Jughead messes up his Riverdale Annual Bake-Off pie recipe so terribly, he is disqualified and banned from all future Bake-Offs! Jug goes to unthinkable lengths to fix his error: time travel! Even Riverdale’s most erudite teenager can’t manage the delicate dance of going back in time, and poor Juggie lands himself in an epic battle to keep the time stream intact! “
The five-issue series kicks off in June.
