Titan Comics and Heroic Signatures have announced that Titan will publish comics featuring Conan the Barbarian and other Robert E. Howard characters starting next year.
Titan and Heroic plan to launch a new Conan the Barbarian ongoing series in May of 2023, along with miniseries featuring “Robert E. Howard’s rich tapestry of iconic heroes.” The deal also includes the Conan omnibus program that Marvel was publishing.
Heroic Signatures manages the Conan license in addition to other Howard-created properties like Solomon Kane and Kull of Atlantis. Heroic and Titan already had an established relationship, as Titan picked up the license to publish Conan novels last year, with the first one, Conan – Blood of the Serpent, expected to land in October.
“We have been working with Titan for a year on the prose side and established a good foundation for expanding our business together. When it became clear that Heroic Signatures would publish our own comics it was natural to partner with a team that we have known for decades. Their expertise in publishing is stellar and we couldn’t be more excited to launch a barbarian horde of titles like Conan, Solomon Kane, Dark Agnes and many more together,” said Fredrik Malmberg, President of Heroic Signatures.
The announcement follows last month’s news that Marvel would no longer publish new Conan material — which came at an interesting time, as that very same week Marvel published the first issue of a new Savage Avengers series that features Conan.
