Lady Baltimore returns next year with ‘The Daughters of Medusa’

Mike Mignola, Christopher Golden and Bridgit Connell return to the world of ‘Baltimore’ with a two-issue series.

Mike Mignola, Christopher Golden and Bridgit Connell have more Lady Baltimore tales to tell. They’ll return to the character next year with Lady Baltimore: The Daughters of Medusa, along with colorist Michelle Madsen and letterer Clem Robins.

Dark Horse Comics will publish the two-part series beginning next April.

“We’re thrilled to jump back into the Outerverse with this new Lady Baltimore adventure,” Golden said. “This world continues to evolve and surprise us all as we create it, and what a gift it is to have Bridgit Connell bringing these stories to life. It’s a lot to ask of an artist to give us pages that are both beautiful and horrifying, sometimes in the same panel, and Bridgit nails it every time. I can’t wait till readers get their hands on this story!”

Details from Dark Horse:

Following the events of 2021’s Lady Baltimore: The Witch Queens and 2023’s Lady Baltimore: The Dream of Ikelos – Lady Baltimore: The Daughters of Medusa throws readers back into the thick of a supernatural world war against occult nazis. Sofia Baltimore and her team of adventurers travel to Paris to investigate reports of spies and soldiers being turned to stone by a gorgon. Can Lady Baltimore defeat the monster without becoming one herself?

“The script for this story is one of my favorite monster stories I’ve ever read,” Connell said. “Not only does Chris know how to pay homage to the lore of the gorgon, but the work he does with the characters involved is so meaningful and heart-wrenching. I think readers are going to enjoy this adventure, I certainly did!”

The first Baltimore story was an illustrated novel released in 2007, by Golden and Mignola. After that it migrated into comics, and currently has eight trade paperbacks and two omnibus editions to its name. Lady Baltimore, aka Sofia Valk, jumped into her own series back in 2021.

The first issue of the two-issue series will arrive next April.
