Welcome to Can’t Wait for Wednesday, your guide to what comics are arriving in comic book stores, bookstores and on digital.
I’ve pulled out some of the highlights for this week below, but for the complete list of everything you might find at your local comic shop and on digital this week, you’ll want to check out one or more of the following:
- Penguin Random House (Marvel + IDW + Dark Horse + more)
- Lunar Distribution (DC + Image + more)
- Diamond’s PreviewsWorld (Dynamite + more)
- ComicList (Pretty much all of the above)
- Amazon/Kindle new releases (digital comics)
As a reminder, things can change and what you find on the above lists may differ from what’s actually arriving in your local shop. So check with your retailer to see what’s arriving at their shop this week.

Predator vs. Spider-Man #1 (Marvel, $5.99): We’ve seen 20th Century’s Predator stalk Wolverine and Black Panther, and now one has his sights set on Peter Parker, courtesy of Benjamin Percy and Marcelo Ferreira
“It’s so much fun to live in Peter Parker’s world — and to put my own wild spin on his relationship with MJ, Jonah Jameson, and (yes — oh, hell yes) Kraven,” Percy said. “Marcelo Ferreira captures the visual dynamism of Spidey so well, and we’ve had a lot of fun designing a Predator that is unlike any other. This Yautja — who we’re calling Skinner — has no code or clan. He’s the perfect nightmarish foil to the big-hearted Parker.”

The Witcher: The Bear and the Butterfly #1 (Dark Horse, $4.99): Simon Spurrier steps into the world of the Witcher, as he and artists Stephen Green and Jose Villarrubia send Geralt after a vampire that’s already being hunted by another witcher from the school of the Bear.

Moonshine Bigfoot #1 (Image Comics, $4.99): Mike Marlow, Zach Howard, Nelson Daniel and Steve Ellis present a … well, this one is hard to explain, so let’s just go to the solicit: Buzzard County, 1981—Moonshine Bigfoot spends his days making a living while outwitting clueless cops, reckless rivals, and buffoonish Bigfoot Hunters. All is hunky-dory until he draws the attention of an Illuminati-esque cabal. With his partner in life and crime, Amethyst, our hairy hero is about to learn that some problems can’t be handled just by jumping them in a souped-up Mach 1.
“One of my earliest creative partnerships in this business was with Zach Howard, and in the intervening 15+ years since we first worked together, I have repeatedly told Zach I was such an admirer of him and his work that I’d crawl across a forest covered in Sasquatch scat just to get to work with him again, and finally, he’s taking me up on that,” said Syzygy publisher Chris Ryall. “And I couldn’t be happier to see what I assume is Zach’s life story take shape on these gorgeous pages from the monstrous pencil of Steve Ellis, with inks, finishes, and overall brilliance added by Zach, and then finished off with gorgeous colors by the supernaturally talented Nelson Daniel.”

Justice League Unlimited #6 (DC, $3.99): The “We Are Yesterday” crossover continues this week in a story by Mark Waid and Travis Moore, as the Justice League goes head-to-head with their greatest foes — Lex Luthor, the Joker, Cheetah, Grodd and the rest of the original Legion of Doom.

Arcane Royale #1 (Dark Horse, $4.99): Cullen Bunn and A.C. Zamudio, who previously worked together on Shadow Roads at Oni Press, will team up for this new supernatural thriller. Arcana Royale stars Hudson Tremaine, a gambler who finds herself in a mystical poker tournament alongside magicians, demons and demigods.
“Arcana Royale has been in the works for a while now, and I’m excited for people to get to read it,” said Bunn. “This is a story about controlling your own fate (even if you have to cheat a little) in the face of overwhelming odds. There’s a little bit of Hudson Tremaine… or at least there should be… in each and everyone of us.”

Medieval Spawn #1 (Image Comics, $3.99): Notably, the Todd McFarlane Spawn titles have managed to draw the line at $2.99 for a number of years longer than most other titles, but as you cans ee here inflation has finally caught up to them. This new miniseries by Rory McConville and Marco Itri reveals the mysterious past of Sir Jon of York, aka Medieval Spawn.

G.I. Joe: A Real American Hero: Roadblock #1 (Image Comics, $3.99): Andrew Krahnke and Francesco Segala pit Roadblock and his very large gun against a Cobra convoy led by the high-flying Wild Weasel. Here’s a preview.

Gatchaman: Ryu: Scavengers #1 (Mad Cave Studios, $6.99): Tommy Lee Edwards is back to write another solo story featuring a member of the Gatchaman crew, as he teams with artist Riccardo Robaldo for a Ryu tale. The Gatchaman pilot steps out on his own to protect his community from “modernized scavenger pirates” known as the Sea Vultures.

Youngblood Deluxe #1 (Image Comics, $3.99): Rob Liefeld returns to one of his signature creations as he releases a “re-scripted, re-colored, and re-lettered” 40-page version of the first issue of Youngblood, which was released back in 1992.
“This is the ultimate way to experience Youngblood,” said Liefeld. “These characters mean so much to me and to revisit them like this is the absolute best way to read the comic that literally started the revolution and transformed the industry!”

The Avengers #25 (Marvel, $4.99): The Avengers go giant-sized in their 25th issue by Jed MacKay and Valerio Schiti, as they battle Doctor Doom and a new Masters of Evil debuts. Here’s a look at Valerio Schiti’s character designs for the new MoE:
