Groo faces prophecy + catastrophe in a new miniseries this spring

Dark Horse Comics announces ‘Groo: The Prophecy’ for April.

Groo the Wanderer will return for another miniseries from Dark Horse this year, with the first issue debuting in April. The longtime Groo team of co-writer/artist Sergio Aragones, co-writer Mark Evanier and letterer Stan Sakai will return, along with colorist Carrie Strachan.

“The subtitle is ‘The Prophecy’ and it concerns a woman with the power to see the future…and the future she sees is pretty darned scary,” Evanier said on his blog.

Dark Horse shared more details on the miniseries:

Groo and Rufferto travel far and wide in search of…well, they’re not sure what they’re searching for and Groo might not even know it if he finds it but they have to be somewhere.  And where they wind up is the realm of the high priestess Syblia who has visions of catastrophe after catastrophe hitting her village…and none of them, oddly enough, is that Groo will be there!

Groo the Wanderer first debuted way back in 1982 at Pacific Comics, and has been published by Eclipse, Marvel’s Epic imprint and Image Comics. In 1998 it moved to Dark Horse, which has published several Groo miniseries over the past few decades. The first issue (of four) of Groo: The Prophecy will arrive April 1, appropriately enough.
