Matthew Rosenberg is teaming up with his brother Mark Elijah Rosenberg and artist Andy MacDonald for a new series from Image Comics, If Destruction Be Our Lot.
The announcement comes via Matthew Rosenberg’s Ashcan Press Substack, where he shared more about the science fiction comic:
Humanity is extinct and all that remains are the robots who once helped us. Despite the computer viruses, electricity addiction, and rampant cannibalism, the robots are happier now doing their jobs in peace. But not an animatronic Abraham Lincoln. He just wants a friend.

They’ll be joined by colorist Francesco Segala, letterer Hassan Otsmane-Elhaou, editors Steve Foxe and Eric Harburn, and designers Courtney Menard and Tim Daniel on the story, which is said to be about “finding purpose, preventing World War 4 and really lonely robots.”
“This is a story I’ve wanted to tell for a long time,” Matthew Rosenberg told IGN. “But working on it for the last few years it has really become something so much bigger, funnier, sadder, weirder, and more hopeful than I ever could have dreamt. And getting to make it with two of my favorite old collaborators- Andy and Hassan, one of my favorite new collaborators -Francesco, and my favorite brother- Mark, has been one of the highlights of my career.”
The first issue will feature a cover by MacDonald and variants by Tradd Moore, James Harren and Jerome Opena:

The first issue arrives May 6.
