Dark Horse and Mattel announce ‘He-Man and the Masters of the Universe: The Wings of Fate’ comic series

Dark Horse Comics and Mattel have announced He-Man and the Masters of the Universe: The Wings of Fate, a four-issue series set in the universe of the upcoming live-action Masters of the Universe film from Amazon MGM Studios, arriving in U.S. theaters June 5.

Written by Tim Sheridan and illustrated by Will Sliney, the series launches in comic shops June 10, which is five days after the film’s domestic release. The story follows a refugee who shelters an injured falcon and must journey through the Mystic Mountains to save her life.

Klaus Janson to open first U.S. art exhibition in New York this March

This one isn’t really tied to ComicsPro, but it’s cool news that hit my inbox nonetheless… Eisner and Harvey Award-winning artist Klaus Janson will open his first U.S. art exhibition at New York’s Philippe Labaune Gallery on March 6, running through April 11.

The career-spanning show features more than 100 pieces drawn from Janson’s groundbreaking runs on Batman, Daredevil, Thor and more, timed to the 40th anniversary of The Dark Knight Returns. The exhibit includes collaborative work with Frank Miller, John Romita Jr., Bill Sienkiewicz, Gene Colan and others. An opening reception takes place March 5 from 6 to 9 p.m. The gallery is located at 534 West 24th Street in Manhattan and is open Thursday through Saturday, 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.

China Miéville and Season Butler expand the BRZRKR universe with new one-shot

In May, BOOM! Studios will release BRZRKR: Light Draws Breath, a new one-shot expanding the universe of Keanu Reeves’ megapopular immortal warrior series. Written by China Miéville and Season Butler with art by Alessio Avallone, the story is set in the Bronze Age and follows a fragment of B.’s protoplasm that takes on a life of its own after two rogue scientists siphon it off before he can fully regenerate. The main cover is by Esad Ribic.

Dark Horse to collect IDW’s ‘Dungeons & Dragons: Saturday Morning Adventures’ in new library edition

Dark Horse Books and Wizards of the Coast will release Dungeons & Dragons: Animated Adventures Library Edition, a $49.99 deluxe hardcover collecting all three volumes of IDW’s Saturday Morning Adventures series, on Aug. 4. Dark Horse acquired the D&D comics license from IDW in 2024.

Written by David M. Booher and Sam Maggs with art by George Kambadais and Jack Lawrence, the Saturday Morning Adventures series is inspired by the classic 1980s animated series, following six kids magically transported to the Forgotten Realms. The library edition features new cover art by Rex Xie and a variant cover gallery.

Dark Horse to release ‘Hellboy: Seed of Destruction’ #1 facsimile edition

Dark Horse Comics announced a facsimile reprint of Hellboy: Seed of Destruction #1, the 1994 debut of Mike Mignola’s legendary character in his own series, co-written by Mignola and John Byrne with colors by Mark Chiarello. The reprint includes the original ads and Art Adams’ “Monkeyman and O’Brien” backup story — that being one of the other titles that launched under the Legend banner at the time. The highlight for collectors is a 1:25 variant featuring new Mignola art with colors by Dave Stewart, shown above.

Marvel teases ‘Queen in Black’ event from Al Ewing and Iban Coello

Finally, Marvel Comics teased their upcoming event series, Queen in Black, from writer Al Ewing and artist Iban Coello, launching in July. Check out the teaser image above, which mixes together a bunch of Spider people, dark force users and, always my favorite, Beta Ray Bill.
