Kevin Smith is headed back to the Marvel Universe, but not in a way you’d expect (alas, ComicsPro did not bring news that Daredevil: The Target would be completed).
No, the actor/director who played Silent Bob across multiple films is literally coming to the Marvel Universe in Jay & Silent Bob: Jays of Future Past, a one-shot written by Smith and illustrated by Giuseppe Camuncoli.
The issue sends the Clerks and Mallrats characters careening through the Marvel Universe, where Doctor Doom declares the Jersey duo must die — forcing the Fantastic Four, the Avengers, the X-Men and others to unite to save them.

For Smith, the project is the fulfillment of a decades-old dream.
“From the moment in Mallrats when they made the very first reference to Wolverine in cinema history, I’ve always wanted Jay and Silent Bob to meet their Marvel heroes in a comic book crossover — so much so that I pitched it to Stan the Man himself the day he shot his cameo in the movie way back in 1995,” Smith said. “Thirty years later, Jays of Future Past represents both a love letter to the magic and mayhem of Marvel, as well as giggle-inducing proof that our childhood dreams can still come true, even at age 55.”
Smith has written numerous comics for Marvel over the years, from his Daredevil run with Joe Quesada to Spider-Man/Black Cat, to the more recent Green Arrow/Daredevil story in Deadpool/Batman. He’s also writing a Bizarro miniseries for DC.
Look for the one-shot to arrive June 10.
