It’s Trans Day of Visibility, which seems like an excellent time to mention DC’s Pride 2026 plans.
Their plans represent something the publisher has been building toward for years — LGBTQIA+ heroes not just celebrated in standalone anthology specials, but placed at the center of a continuity-driven Justice League event series. This year’s initiative spans YA graphic novels, mainline comics and a new four-issue miniseries, anchored by Galaxy and Dreamer. It’s also spanning several months, rather than just Pride Month in June.

It all starts in April with Justice League Intergalactic Special #1, which sets the stage for the main event. Written by Jadzia Axelrod and Nicole Maines with art by Travis Moore, the one-shot brings Galaxy and Dreamer together in DC’s main continuity, with Galaxy now a card-carrying Justice League member and Dreamer adrift in the aftermath of mistakes that have branded her a criminal in the League’s eyes.

The publishing initiative continues with the previously announced Galaxy: As the World Falls Down, the sequel to the acclaimed YA graphic novel Galaxy: The Prettiest Star, arriving May 5. Written by Axelrod with art by Rye Hickman, the book continues Taylor Barzelay’s journey as she confronts the alien threat of the Vane and deepens her friendship with Nia Nal.

“Galaxy: As the World Falls Down is about what comes next after coming out,” Axelrod said. “It’s about being a teenage superhero while also being trans and queer, feeling anxiety about life after high school while making sure the world doesn’t end, and what to do when a powerful empire wants you dead.”

Then the main event kicks off in June with Justice League: Dream Girls — A DC Pride Event, a four-issue miniseries co-written by Maines and Axelrod with art by Nicola Scott, Mikel Janín, Brandt&Stein and others. The story finds the two heroes waking up on Themyscira living out an idyllic fantasy, until a mysterious stranger insists Dreamer must leave paradise to save the world, and the dreamscape begins to shift in ways that feel deeply wrong.

The villain is the Key, a long-standing Justice League adversary whose control over perception makes him a uniquely dangerous opponent for Dreamer, who is struggling with her will to go on. Galaxy, eager to prove herself to the League, must fight through the dreamworld to pull her closest friend back from the brink.

“This journey she’s been on started way back during the Beast World event and has been building up to this moment of reckoning for a long time,” Maines said. “Across Intergalactic Special and Dream Girls we can deliver a lot of the nuance and grit that we’re not always afforded the ability or space to explore with our queer characters.”

Each issue of Dream Girls also includes an eight-page backup story expanding the event’s scope: Greg Rucka and Claire Roe spotlight Batwoman in issue #1 on June 3, Morgan Hampton and Alitha Martinez tackle the Green Lantern Corps in issue #2 on June 10, G. Willow Wilson and Maria Llovet spotlight Poison Ivy in issue #3 on June 17, and issue #4 on June 24 features a personal story by Klaus Janson.

Variant covers across the four issues are by Claire Roe, Mateus Manhanini, Oscar Vega and Robin “Zombie” Higginbottom, with connecting variants by Phil Jimenez and Arif Prianto.

Rounding out the initiative is DC Pride: The Heart Wants, a hardcover collection of the 2025 DC Pride one-shot and additional stories. DC Pride variant covers will also appear throughout June on Batwoman #4 (Betsy Cola), Emperor Aquaman #18 (Bruka Jones), Justice League Unlimited #20 (Jessica Fong), Wonder Woman #34 (Fatima Wajid), New Titans #36 (Rachael Stott), Poison Ivy #45 (Don Aguillo), Harley Quinn #63 (Stephen Byrne), and Detective Comics#1110 (Angel Solorzano).

“DC Pride has evolved into an all-new format thanks to the long-term storytelling and character building that Jadzia, Nicole, and their peers have been doing for years,” said DC editor Andrea Shea. “These stories are woven into the very fabric of the DC Universe. It’s such a joy to take this next step with these two amazing characters at the forefront.”
