Batman/Fortnite: Zero Point #1 (DC, $4.99): DC’s Dark Knight heads to Fortnite island as DC kicks off a new miniseries this week featuring Batman and the popular video game franchise. Christos Gage writes the story, “with concept and story consultation” from Donald Mustard, Chief Creative Officer of Epic. It features artwork by Reilly Brown and a cover by Mikel Janín. Each issue comes with a code for an in-game item related to Batman.
The Way of X #1 (Marvel, $4.99): Simon Spurrier and Bob Quinn helm the latest addition to the X-Men/Krakoa line in a new title that features Nightcrawler, Pixie, Doctor Nemesis and more. It will explore “the dark mysteries of the X-Men’s new way of life.”
Women of Marvel #1 (Marvel, $5.99): Marvel’s latest anthology features stories about female characters told by women, including Louise Simonson, Nadia Shammas, Elsa Sjunneson, Sophie Campbell, Anne Toole and more. Stories will feature She-Hulk, Peggy Carter and Marrow, among others.
The Mighty Valkyries #1 (Marvel, $4.99): Jason Aaron, Torunn Gronbekk and Erica D’Urso team up for another series focusing on Jane Foster and the Valkyries, following their King in Black miniseries. It also features Loki!
The Old Guard: Tales Through Time #1 (Image Comics, $3.99): This new miniseries spins out of The Old Guard by Greg Rucka and Leandro Fernández, telling stories set in that universe. This week’s first issue includes a new story by Rucka and Fernández, along with one by Andrew Wheeler and Jacopo Camagni.
Godzilla: Monsters & Protectors #1 (IDW, $4.99): This new title is aimed at middle-grade readers and features everyone’s favorite Kong-bashin’ kaiju. It’s about a group of kids who have to convince Godzilla that not all humans are bad after an evil businessman introduces a dangerous energy source to the planet. It’s by the Ghostbusters creative team of writer Erik Burnham, artist Dan Schoening, and colorist Luis Antonio Delgado.
The Many Deaths of Laila Starr #1 (BOOM! Studios, $3.99): Ram V and Filipe Andrade team up for this new series about love, connection and immortality, starring a woman who houses the avatar of Death after said avatar is fired and sent to Earth in a world on the verge of discovering eternal life.
The Girls of Dimension 13 #1 (AfterShock, $4.99): Graham Nolan and Bret Blevins team up for a new comic about a group of women who have to defend their dimension against a malevolent creature known as Abraxis who has already conquered 12 other dimensions.
The Way of the Hive (Harper Alley, $12.99/21.99): Just in time for World Bee Day, which is coming up on May 20, Jay Hosler’s Clan Apis returns with a new title, a new publisher and in color. It’ll be published as both a softcover and a hardcover. What’s it about? Bees! Specifically it’s about Nyuki, a brand-new honeybee with lots of questions about bee life.
Young Shadow (Fantagraphics, $16.99): Described as “socially conscious YA action,” this new graphic novel from Ben Sears features a hero, Young Shadow, who battles a gang of chemical plant CEO’s, trust-fund punks and bad cops called the Sludge Team.
Guerilla Green (BOOM! Studios, $16.99): Cookie Kalkair and Ophélie Damblé team up for a new graphic novel about the guerilla gardening movement, an attempt to bring more green back into cities that increasingly resemble concrete jungles.
