Charlie Adlard joins Chris Condon + Andrew Ehrich for eco-horror miniseries ‘Of The Earth’

The six-issue Image Comics series launches in May.

Image Comics will publish Of The Earth, a new six-issue eco-horror miniseries from The Walking Dead artist Charlie Adlard, co-writers Chris Condon and Andrew Ehrich, colorist Pip Martin and letterer Hassan Otsmane-Elhaou, beginning in May.

The series marks Adlard’s return to single-issues comics and follows Tabitha “Tabby” Black, a woman who flees a troubled life for her quiet hometown of Solitude, Texas and the comfort of her grandmother’s home. Only she finds that neither home nor grandmother are quite what she remembers.

Condon described the series as “an atmospheric, terror-soaked excursion into the unknown — an eco-horror story with a suspenseful neo-noir tinge. It’s John Carpenter’s The Thing meets Blood Simple and I cannot wait to unleash this oil-soaked terror upon the world.”

Adlard said he had long wanted to work with Condon. “I’ve always wanted to work with Chris for a long time, ever since I was aware of his collaborations with Jake Phillips,” he said. “And finally I got my wish with a brilliant atmospheric horror tale with an eco twist. It’s the best type of story for me — full of atmosphere and great characters.”

Speaking of Phillips, he provides a variant cover for the first issue:

The first issue will arrive in stores May 20.
