The Young Animal line’s cast of curious characters is getting a new friend: Eternity Girl. Kim & Kim writer Magdalene Visaggio and Eisner winner Sonny Liew (The Art of Charlie Chan Hock Chye) will tell the story of Caroline Sharp, a former secret agent who can’t die — so she decides to destroy the universe.

‘Motherland’ from Si Spurrier and Rachael Stott, and ‘Deathbed’ by Joshua Williamson and Riley Rossmo arrive from Vertigo early next year.
Vertigo turns 25 next year, and DC Comics co-publishers Jim Lee and Dan Didio revealed at New York Comic Con plans to relaunch the line next August. But that doesn’t mean we have to wait until then for new series announcements, as today Mark Doyle, Executive Editor of Vertigo, revealed two new miniseries in New York.

New series will feature work from Jody Houser, Devin Grayson, Elsa Charretier and more, on characters like Rey, Leia, Ahsoka and Hera.
Star Wars: Forces of Destiny, the animated web series and merchandise line featuring female heroes from the Star Wars universe, is taking aim at comics. IDW Publishing announced plans at New York Comic Con for a weekly comic book series featuring Leia, Rey, Padmé, Ahsoka and Hera, along with the newest stars from the upcoming Star Wars: The Last Jedi, Rose and Paige.
Working on the new series are Delilah S. Dawson, Elsa Charretier, Beth Revis, Jody Houser, Devin Grayson, Arianna Florean, Eva Widermann, Valentina Pinto, and Nicoletta Baldari.
“The Forces of Destiny initiative has won over fans with its inspiring tales about these iconic heroes,” said IDW Senior Editor Denton J. Tipton. “IDW Publishing couldn’t be more excited to be part of the celebration of these beloved characters.”

The publisher announces the new creative team for their popular ‘Avatar: The Last Airbender’ graphic novel series.
Dark Horse has announced that Faith Erin Hicks (The Nameless City) and Peter Wartman (Over the Wall) will take over the Avatar: The Last Airbender graphic novel series, based on the television show that used to air on Nickelodeon.
“Avatar: The Last Airbender is one of my favorite things in the world. I’m totally not kidding: I remember watching the series finale over ten years ago when I was a struggling animator, wishing I could work on a show that was even 10 percent as thoughtful and compelling as Avatar. I was so in love with the world and characters,” said Hicks. “Even now, there’s nothing that has filled my heart quite like Avatar, and I’m so honored to contribute to the real thing.”

Dark Knights: Metal serves not only as a crossover event featuring some bad, bad Batmans, but also as the springboard for a new line of comics — a line featuring top talent who will have equity in the comics they’re creating.
Previously announced as “Dark Matter,” at the New York Comic Con DC Comics announced they’ve renamed this new publishing initiative as “New Age of DC Heroes.” They’ve also added two new titles to the mix, taking the line up to seven.

Oversized issue + a hardcover will help celebrate the milestone.
At the New York Comic Con, DC Comics co-publishers Dan DiDio and Jim Lee revealed the company’s plans for the upcoming 1000th issue of Action Comics, which is set to arrive next March.
Plans include an oversized edition of Action #1000 featuring a story by Peter Tomasi and Dan Jurgens, as well as “an all-star talent line-up writing back-up stories,” including a story co-written by DC COO Geoff Johns and Superman film director Richard Donner. They’ll also publish a hardcover book celebrating the 80th anniversary of Action Comics #1.

New series from Image imagines a world that is ‘chaotic, beautiful and repulsive’ — and has no secure internet.
Gerry Duggan, David O’Sullivan and Jordie Bellaire are imagining a world without a secure internet in Analog, a new series from Image Comics coming next year.
“David O’Sullivan is lushly rendering a world that is chaotic, beautiful and repulsive, sometimes on the same page,” said Duggan, writer of Guardians of the Galaxy, Last Christmas and many other comics. “He and Jordie Bellaire are the perfect collaborators to leap over this post-fascist tale of the great crash of the information age.”

Static Shock, Icon, Rocket and more set to return next spring as a part of ‘Earth M.’
Milestone Comics was a big, groundbreaking idea back in the 1990s, and now it’s coming back to comics in a big way.
At the New York Comic Con, DC Comics announced plans to launch five new titles featuring characters from the 1990s imprint. The new initiative, called Earth M, will feature creators like Reginald Hudlin, Ken Lashley, Greg Pak, Kyle Baker and more.

Pornsak Pichetshote and Aaron Campbell team up for ‘Infidel,’ a horror story with political undertones.
Former Vertigo editor Pornsak Pichetshote and artist Aaron Campbell are teaming up for a new horror title that will explore Islamophobia called Infidel. Per the press release, it’s the story of an American Muslim woman and her multi-ethnic neighbors “who move into a building haunted by creatures that feed on xenophobia.”
“I’m a huge fan of horror and was really interested in a horror story that more accurately reflected the multi-racial world we live in and the fears that seem to come with it,” said Pichetshote. “Aaron, Jose, Jeff, and I are really trying to take a classic horror staple—the haunted house—and update everything about it—setting it in the heart of the city, giving it a multi-racial cast where those backgrounds actually matter to the turns of our story, and centering our horror around the very distinct fears of today. I’ve taken to calling Infidel ‘political horror,’ and while we’ve been cooking this project for a while, the success of movies like Get Out make us optimistic that audiences will be as hungry to read something like this as we are to make it.”

Robert Kirkman and Charlie Adlard prepare for ‘all new friends, all new enemies, all new threats’ in forthcoming storyline.
During the Robert Kirkman spotlight panel at the New York Comic Con today, The Walking Dead writer and co-creator revealed the cover to issue #175 by series artist Charlie Adlard.
Per Image Comics, “This jaw-dropping new story arc of the bestselling The Walking Dead will feature all new friends, all new enemies, all new threats, and will appropriately be called, New World Order.”

New Skybound title transfers Philadelphia to an alternate dimension.
Skybound has announced the next project from The Walking Dead and Invincible scribe Robert Kirkman — Oblivion Song, co-created with artist Lorenzo De Felici. Joining the duo on the project are colorist Annalisa Leoni, letterer Rus Wooton and editor Sean Mackiewicz.
Here’s how Skybound describes the project: “A decade ago 300,000 citizens of Philadelphia were suddenly lost in Oblivion. The government made every attempt to recover them but after many years they gave up. Nathan Cole… won’t. He makes daily trips, risking his life to try and rescue those lost, alone and afraid, living in the apocalyptic hellscape of Oblivion. But maybe… Nathan is looking for something else? Why can’t he resist the siren call of the Oblivion Song?”

Jen Vaughn and Michelle Wong offer a modern take on the classic Goosebumps book ‘Say Cheese and Die!’
IDW announced back in July that they will publish a comic series based on R.L. Stine’s popular Goosebumps books by a rotating series of creators. With the first miniseries kicking off later this month, IDW has announced a second one that will follow in February.
The second three-issue arc, “DOWNLOAD AND DIE!,” is a self-contained story set in the Goosebumps universe from writer Jen Vaughn and artist Michelle Wong.
“This Goosebumps tale is going to delve into what makes friends tick and what can drive them apart,” said Vaughn. “What’s that saying, ‘you can always make new friends?’ Well, not when people find out what you did to your last ones. Michelle brought my characters to life so well…too well. They laugh, they cry, they dream, and bleed through the power of her lines. I’m terrified to read the comic now.”
