Shobo + Shof Coker team with Alexandre Tefenkgi to steal back history in ‘Bronze Faces’

The heist begins in February at BOOM! Studios.

Shobo and Shof Coker (New Master) will team with artist Alexandre Tefenkgi (Once Upon a Time at the End of the World) for Bronze Faces, a heist story set at the British Museum with the real-life Benin Bronzes at its center.

BOOM! Studios will publish the miniseries beginning in February, which is about three Nigerian friends who reunite in London when the artwork by one of their fathers is debuting at the British Museum. They decide to steal it back, and as they plan their heist, their scope grows to include the famous Benin Bronzes statues.

Bronze Faces is our bold answer to the question, ‘What if we took our heritage back by any means necessary?’ We’ve crafted a story that’s part heist, part homecoming, and part myth. I can’t wait for readers to dive into the action with us,” said Shobo.

Slugfest | ‘Radio Apocalypse’ goes on indefinite hiatus

Plus: A new Secret Stash title, Poison Ivy grows and Marvel Masterworks gets reprinted.

Vault Comics and writer Ram V have announced via press release that the comic series Radio Apocalypse will go on “an indefinite hiatus.” The series, which suffered delays before launch, only saw two issues published.

“We launched this book with much excitement and to celebration and acclaim,” Ram V said in the statement. “And for that I have readers, retailers and everyone who worked on this book to thank. Unfortunately, in the time since, Anand, Aditya and I have been through some rough times. I will allow everyone including myself some privacy but suffice to say health issues, bouts of COVID and some difficult family emergencies on my end have meant that we have been unable to work on this book with the care and attention it deserves.”

The series, which reunited Ram V with Anand RK, who he worked with on Grafity’s Wall, was about the last radio station on Earth.

Image Comics announces ‘The Good Asian’ by Pichetshote + Tefenkgi

The nine-issue noir series starts in May.

Infidel writer Pornsak Pichetshote will partner up with Outpost Zero artist Alexandre Tefenkgi for The Good Asian, a nine-issue “noir” miniseries.

According to Image Comics, the miniseries will “explores race through a genre lens” and is scheduled to hit shelves in time for Asian American and Pacific Islander Heritage Month.

The Good Asian isn’t just writing what I want to read—it’s writing what I want to exist: a story incorporating the Asian American history unacknowledged in textbooks to make a thriller that’s just as much about gangland murders, lust, and plot twists, as it is about immigration bans, police brutality, and Asian American identity,” Pichetshote told Comic Book Resources.
