‘Blue Falcon and Dynomutt’ will make waves at Dynamite this fall

The animated duo from the 1970s will find new life in a series by Jimmy Palmiotti and Pasquale Qualano.

I was just lamenting over the fact that Dynamite seemed to be stuck in distribution hell as the largest comic company that hadn’t announced their post-Diamond plans. But today brought news that they have indeed signed up with Lunar Distribution, which is good to hear — that means their upcoming Blue Falcon & Dynomutt comic will make it to comic shops.

This dynamic duo first appeared on television screens in the 1970s alongside another Hanna-Barbera canine, Scooby Doo. The two animated programs often crossed over as part of the The Scooby-Doo/Dynomutt Hour, as the Batman-esque superhero and his robot dog fought criminals like Mr. Hyde, The Gimmick and the talking worm known as The Worm. Only 20 episodes of their show wwere produced, but they did make many cameos and appearances in Scooby Doo, on Laff-A-Lympics and many other cartoons, as well as the more recent film Scoob!

The creative team for the comic series include writer Jimmy Palmiotti and artist Pasquale Qualano, while Lucio Parrillo provides the cover for the first issue:

‘Dark Knights of Steel’ sequel ‘Allwinter’ begins in July

DC enlists fantasy novelist Jay Kristoff and Spanish artist Tirso to continue the Elseworlds story.

As announced last year at the New York Comic Con, DC has several Elseworlds projects in the works for 2024. While June will bring Gotham by Gaslight: The Kryptonian Age #1 by Andy Diggle and Leandro Fernandez, DC has shared more details on July’s Dark Knights of Steel: Allwinter this week.

The spinoff of Dark Knights of Steel will continue the story of a medieval world populated by versions of DC characters. It’s by fantasy novelist Jay Kristoff and Spanish artist Tirso, who recently signed an exclusive contract with the publisher.

The duo will continue the story from the first volume by Tom Taylor and Yasmine Putri. Taylor returns to write a back-up story for the miniseries, with art by Riccardo Federici.

Dark Knights of Steel was one of my favorite reads; it combines a super-attractive universe with an unbeatable team dynamic,” Tirso said. “Working as a team with Jay, in this universe, has been one of my best professional experiences so far.

During the ComicsPro meeting currently happening in Pittsburgh — that’s the retailers’ industry meeting where publishers present their plans to them, among other activities — DC revealed their big crossover event for this summer. The horror-themed Knight Terrors will involve Superman, Batman, Wonder Woman, Deadman and more as they battle a new villain in the realm of nightmares.

Joshua Williamson spearheads the event, which will feature artwork by Howard Porter, Guillem March and more

“I love horror comics, and it’s been a blast bringing the energy to Dawn of DC. Knight Terrors showcases the horror side of our heroes as a brand-new villain confronts them with their worst nightmares,” said Williamson. “It’s a fun and horrific event that brings together all of the heroes and villains of DC, along with some surprises!”
