A ‘Knull’ miniseries will spin out of ‘Venom’ #250

The King in Black seeks to reclaim his throne, as told by Al Ewing, Tom Waltz and Juanan Ramirez.

Knull, aka the King in Black, aka the god of the symbiotes, will return in next month’s Venom #250 — and then spin off into his own miniseries next year courtesy of Al Ewing, Tom Waltz and Juanan Ramirez.

The ultra-powerful Marvel villain was created by Donny Cates and Ryan Stegman in 2018, and went on to plague not only Venom but eventually the entire Marvel Universe in the King in Black crossover. While Venom and Marvel’s heroes were able to stop Knull, hints have been popping up in various places about his return.

The miniseries will have him embark on “a new reign of terror, but first, he must reclaim his throne from a startling usurper.”

“When super-editor Jordan White reached out to me to see if I’d be interested in collaborating with fellow writer Al Ewing on the new Knull series, I couldn’t jump at the chance fast enough,” Waltz said. “Besides working alongside Al, who is an absolutely fantastic and steady talent, the kicker for me was getting to play with such an amazing character with such untapped potential as Knull. The King in Black has once again risen up out of the void to cause delicious havoc and mayhem across the universe, and we’ve got surprises a’plenty in store, my friends. And just wait until everyone sees Juanan Ramirez’s darkly bombastic artwork — WOW!”

Kyle Higgins + Juanan Ramírez tapped for a new ‘Darkhawk’ miniseries

Teenager Connor Young will take up the mantle of Darkhawk in the new miniseries.

About 30 years after he first debuted in his own solo series, Darkhawk flies back this August with a new miniseries.

Kyle Higgins, who contributed to the Darkhawk: Heart of a Hawk 30th anniversary special, will write the series. He’s joined by artist Juanan Ramírez.

“My approach to the mantle and the book in general comes from the same place that some of my other recent superhero work comes from: building something new and contemporary, while staying respectful to what’s come before,” Higgins told IGN.
