Doom assembles his own Avengers team in ‘Superior Avengers’

The six-issue miniseries ties into ‘One World Under Doom’ and kicks off in April.

In the spirit of Dark Avengers, Doctor Doom will assemble his own team of Avengers during the One World Under Doom crossover event that officially kicks off next month.

The six-issue Superior Avengers by Steve Foxe and Luca Maresca will bring together a team sporting the names of familiar villains, as they help implement Doom’s new world order.

“Introducing any new character to the Marvel Universe—let alone an entire cast of them—is both an honor and no small terror, so when editor Wil Moss reached out about developing an intense, secretive team of Avengers for One World Under Doom, I knew I had to swing for the fences,” Foxe said. “The Avengers that readers are going to meet here may have familiar names, but you’ll quickly come to learn why they consider themselves superior to other teams. This book features some of the most ruthless, wide-scale action I’ve ever written at Marvel, and I’m so thrilled to be telling this story alongside Luca Maresca. Luca nails both the subtler mind games at play in our story and the (sometimes literally) breakneck action.”

The Quiet Council goes quiet in Gillen + Maresca’s ‘X-Men Forever’

The new miniseries will tie into ‘Fall of the House of X’ next year.

As a part of the big finale for the current Krakoa era of comics, Marvel has announced X-Men: Forever, a four-issue miniseries by Immortal X-Men writer Kieron Gillen and artist Luca Maresca.

The miniseries will tie into Gillen’s work on Rise of the Powers of X, which was announced last month alongside Fall of the House of X.

X-Men: Forever is Luca and myself doing a coda to Immortal X-Men, a requiem for the Krakoan age and generally setting fire to all time and space,” Gillen said. “It’s the manipulative hand in the steel glove that is Rise of the Powers of X. By the time it drops, you’ll be wondering what on Earth is going on with certain characters, and X-Men: Forever will give you all the answers.”

‘Phoenix Song: Echo’ tells the next chapter in Maya Lopez’s story

The new Phoenix takes the spotlight in a miniseries by Rebecca Roanhorse and Luca Maresca.

Science fiction writer Rebecca Roanhorse will team with artist Luca Maresca for a new miniseries focused on Echo, the Marvel character who recently gained the power of the Phoenix in the pages of Avengers.

Phoenix Song: Echo — a title that parallels the Phoenix: Endsong and Phoenix: Warsong miniseries from 2005-2006 — will have Roanhorse returning to the character of Maya Lopez, who she wrote in last year’s Marvel’s Voices: Indigenous Voices #1.

“I am excited to return to Echo in her first solo series and follow this thrilling new direction Jason Aaron has taken her,” Roanhorse told Marvel.com. “Readers will see some old favorites re-imagined and some entirely new characters as Echo comes to terms with the incredible and dangerous powers of the Phoenix.”
