Step aside, Rai — there’s a new Future Force coming from Valiant Entertainment, and their breakout character Faith is taking the reigns.

The second miniseries of Zander Cannon’s “giant monsters in prison” comic from Oni Press gets collected on Wednesday. And boy is it worth your time.

Zander Cannon’s Kaijumax is one of the more oddly awesome comics out there, about a prison for giant monsters and all the crazy prison drama they get into. With the “season two” trade paperback set to arrive on Wednesday, Oni Press has released a 22-page preview, which you can see below.

‘Space Riders’ team reunites for pulpy, ‘satanic noir’ graphic novel

Fabian Rangel Jr. and Alexis Ziritt turned a few heads with their work on the imaginative, chaotically fun comic called Space Riders, and now they’ve reteamed for a new graphic novel called Tarantula from AdHouse Books.

Hacker fights for the future in Wren McDonald’s ‘SP4RX’

Check out a preview and the trailer for the upcoming graphic novel from Nobrow Press.

You can count on Nobrow Press to bring out a lot of interesting and cool comics and graphic novels, and their fall/winter slate, which I detailed back in June, is no exception. One of the projects that jumped out at me back back in June when I was putting that post together was SP4RX.

Wren McDonald‘s science fiction/social commentary/political thriller is about a hacker in a dystopian future who discovers a big secret about a cybernetic implants program being run by Structus Industries. McDonald’s artwork is the big draw for me here; it has a dynamic quality with huge amounts of detail packed into it, where you want to examine every panel further just to see what you missed.

Paul Buhle and Noah Van Sciver explore the historical John Chapman, better known as Johnny Appleseed, in a new graphic novel due out this fall.

The popular image of Johnny Appleseed is a sort of crazy guy who promoted healthy eating by planting apple trees and went around with a pot on his head. But there’s a lot more to him than that, and this fall (just in time for apple season!), Alternative Press will be publishing Paul Buhle and Noah Van Sciver’s Johnny Appleseed.

Jarrett Williams gets hyped with ‘Hyper Force Neo’

For your previewing pleasure … here are a few pages from Jarrett Williams’ upcoming comic from Z2 Comics, Hyper Force Neo, one of four new titles the publisher announced a few weeks back. It’s the one I’m most excited for, based on Williams’ work on Super Pro K.O.

HYPER FORCE NEO, from SUPER PRO K.O.! creator Jarrett Williams, takes readers along on the adventures of Dean Masters, a 9th grader tasked with leading a group of tech-savvy teens called Hyper Force Neo. Their Mission? Save New Sigma City and their high-school from the sinister, intergalactic vagabonds known as the Dark Edge. With the use of their Hype Suits, Neo Keys, High-tech weaponry, and over-sized Neo Mechs, Dean and his friends just may get the job done. Jarrett Williams recently completed the third volume in his pro-wrestling/adventure series Super Pro K.O.!: Gold for Glory at Oni Press, which will be released in Summer, 2016. He is also working on a Super Pro K.O.! Special and a monthly, action/beat-em-up comic called Knuckle Up! for Oni Press. Jarrett has contributed stories for Yo Gabba Gabba: Comic Book Time at Oni Press, and covers for Adventure Time and Regular Show at Boom Studios. Jarrett was born in New Orleans, LA in 1984. He lives in Savannah, GA.

Waid, Wu reveal ‘The Lipstick Incident’ in ‘Archie’ #4

Find out why Archie and Betty broke up Nov. 25.

Fans of the relaunched Archie series have two things to look forward to in issue #4. First, of course, is the addition of artist Annie Wu, who joins writer Mark Waid on the series, and second, the revelation of what exactly “The Lipstick Incident” was.

“Finally, the details of the #Lipstic​kIncident are revealed as we see what exactly broke up the power couple of Archie Andrews and Betty Cooper–and you’ll never guess!” Waid said in a press release. Waid and Fiona Staples, who drew the first three issues, have had fun teasing what exactly “The Lipstick Incident” is in the pages of the previous issues, and it’s nice they won’t keep us guessing much longer. Wu’s been doing some killer work on Hawkeye and Black Canary, so it’ll be interesting to see what she does in rebooted Riverdale. Dead Hemingway headbutts an angel in ‘Exodus: The Life After’ preview

Joshua Hale Fialkov and Gabo created one of the past few years’ most interesting and original premises in The Life After, a story set in Purgatory where a man teams up with Ernest Hemingway to fight the divine powers that be.

The revolution continues Nov. 4 in Exodus: The Life After, a new miniseries that once again stars Jude and Ernest Hemingway, as Jude’s “life” is reset in Purgatory. Here’s how Oni Press describes the first issue:

Jude has been sent right back where he started: Purgatory. With no memory of his previous adventures or relationships, Jude’s existence is stark and empty. Yet, just outside his awareness, his friends—including the late, great Ernest Hemingway and a very tenacious preteen girl—struggle to free him. Because in the quest to overthrow God himself, the only person who stands a chance is his son.

Landis & friends look back at Superman’s ‘important junctures’ in ‘American Alien’

Hollywood screenwriter and Eisner nominee Max Landis (Chronicle, American Ultra) returns to comics in November with a murderer’s row of artists for Superman: American Alien, a seven-issue miniseries that highlights “important junctures in his development as a person.” Each issue features a different artist working with Landis on done-in-one stories set in Clark Kent’s past.
