Can’t Wait for Wednesday | Celebrating 10 years of Marvel’s Star Wars revival

See what comics are expected to arrive at your local comic shop this week.

Welcome to Can’t Wait for Wednesday, your guide to what comics are arriving in comic book stores, bookstores and on digital. It’s a fifth week this week, as January has five Wednesdays in it, meaning there are less regular titles and more specials and one-shots.

I’ve pulled out some of the other highlights for this week below, but for the complete list of everything you might find at your local comic shop and on digital this week, you’ll want to check out one or more of the following:

As a reminder, things can change and what you find on the above lists may differ from what’s actually arriving in your local shop. With Diamond going through bankruptcy proceedings, things could be more tumultuous with deliveries and arrival dates, especially for small press books. So check with your retailer to see what’s arriving at their shop.

‘SilverHawks’ blast off into comics from Dynamite this January

As revealed at NYCC, Ed Brisson + George Kambadais will bring the 1980s cartoon to comics.

Dynamite Entertainment is following their highly successful launch of the ThunderCats earlier this year with the debut of a sister title — SilverHawks. Ed Brisson and George Kambadais will bring the space-soaring team, who also had their own cartoon back in the 1980s, into comics this January.

The title is part of Dynamite’s larger publishing agreement with Warner Bros. Discovery Global Consumer Products and will be set in the same universe as Declan Shalvey and Drew Moss’s ThunderCats, much like the animated series was. Dynamite said in the release that both titles would fall under “an umbrella to include all their spinoffs and potential connections moving forward,” which makes you wonder if they’ll catch a tiger by the tail next.

“When Dynamite launched ThunderCats I immediately began to pester Declan about the possibility of a SilverHawks book,” Brisson said. “When Nate reached out to me to write ThunderCats: Apex, my first question was, ‘When are you doing SilverHawks?!?’ I am very excited that this book is happening and that I’m privileged enough to be involved. I couldn’t ask for a better collaborator than George. So, strap in, because I’m about to pour all the love I have for the SilverHawks into this baby. I’m going to make you all love it too!”
