Roger Langridge returns to the Muppets for a hard-boiled ‘Noir’ series

The acclaimed Muppets veteran returns for a two-issue series launching in February from Dynamite Entertainment.

It’s time to dim the lights: The legendary cartooning talent behind BOOM! Studios’ beloved The Muppet Show comic series returns to the characters with an all-new mystery, Muppets Noir, coming from Dynamite next year.

Roger Langridge will write, draw and letter the series, which will feature Kermit getting knocked out with an errant brick (as these things happen) as he’s reading a detective novel. While the rest of the gang tries to wake him, Kermit’s transported into the hard-boiled world of his fictional hero, Flip Minnow, P.I., where he attempts to solve the mystery of the Snoozing Sleuth. Dearbhla Kelly joins Langridge as colorist.

Inktober Spotlight: Bruce McCorkindale

The artist shares daily drawings of various Muppets mashed up with arthouse films.

October is also Inktober, where artists from all over the world create a different ink drawing every day of the month — or whatever schedule works for them. While the official Inktober site provides a list of “prompts” to help inspire artists, many of them choose their own themes.

And some of those themes can get really fun and creative. Today we feature The Falling Man co-creator Bruce McCorkindale and his series of arthouse films/Muppets mash-ups. Yes, that’s right — he’s combining the Fraggles with Wes Anderson, Bert and Ernie with The Seventh Seal, and Rowlf with Ghost Dog, among many others. It’s an inspired, fun series of drawings.
