Mail Call is a roundup of the announcements we’ve received from comics publishers in our mailboxes recently. Hit the links for more information.
Marvel has announced Wolverine: Black, White & Blood, a second series starring Marvel’s favorite mutant.
“I can’t stress how exciting it is getting all of these pages from the absolutely killer level of talent assembled for this book,” said series editor Mark Basso. “It’s become a hype cliché, but you’ve really never seen anything quite like this from Marvel Comics. And you’ve only seen a fraction of the first issue…”
Each issue will feature three stories by a variety of creators. The first issue includes stories by Gerry Duggan, Adam Kubert, Declan Shalvey, Matthew Rosenberg and Joshua Cassara.
Just in time for the debut of the TV adaptation hitting SYFY, Dark Horse has announced a new Resident Alien miniseries by Peter Hogan and Steve Parkhouse titled Resident Alien: Your Ride’s Here.
“I’m so happy to be working on this final volume before our babies fly the nest and make their way in the big world of television,” said Parkhouse. “I’ll miss them all, except maybe Delbert. You’ll find revelations and surprises in this volume that even I wasn’t expecting. And make sure you catch the show…it’s gonna be a doozy!”
Jennika, the fifth, female ninja turtle who has already had one miniseries, will get a second one in November. Guerillas creator Brahm Revel will once again write and draw the miniseries.
“A lot has happened in the real world since the previous miniseries; we now all know what it’s like to have our movement restricted, and how desperate things can get when food gets short and when jobs disappear. The average person now has a much better idea of what life is like for Jennika and the other mutants in Mutant Town,” said Revel. “Who knows, maybe reading what our cast will go through in Jennika II will help prepare you for 2021!”
DC has shared a preview of the third YA graphic novel from Kami Garcia and Gabriel Picolo featuring the Teen Titans, titled Teen Titans: Beast Boy Loves Raven. It is due out in 2021, following the Sept. 1 release of their second graphic novel focused on Beast Boy.
Marvel has announced plans to release an omnibus collecting a lot of Aliens stories published by Dark Horse Comics over the years. It’ll hit stores next April with a cover by Mark A. Nelson.
The series Protector by Simon Roy, Daniel M. Bensen, Artyom Trakhanov, Jason Wordie and Hassan Otsmane-elhaou will get a new name when it arrives in trade paperback. The first volume of First Knife arrives from Image Comics in November. “The new title gives a better feel for the universe in which we have so many stories to tell,” said Trakhanov.
On the Star Trek front, IDW announced a miniseries starring Seven of Nine, titled Star Trek: Voyager – Seven’s Reckoning by the creative team of Dave Baker, Angel Hernandez and Ronda Pattison.
