Can’t Wait for Comics | The ‘Dead Seas’ rise

Dead Seas #1 (IDW, $3.99): The latest title in the IDW Originals line is by Cavan Scott and Nick Brokenshire, and it’s about a a convict-turned-reluctant-hero, who finds himself trapped with guards, pirates and his fellow convicts on a prison ship filled with ghosts. Dark Crisis on Infinite Earths #7 (DC, $5.99): DC’s latest Crisis series by Joshua Williamson, Daniel Sampere and Alejandro Sánchez wraps up this week, as DC’s heroes face off against Deathstroke and his army of villains. And as the cover tells you, this also sets up the Dawn of DC publishing initiative that’s coming next year.

Groo: Gods Against Groo #1 (Dark Horse, $3.99): Sergio Aragones, Mark Evanier and the rest of the gang return to the world of Groo, as the bumbling barbarian’s legend grows so much that a new Groo deity appears in the heavens. Heaven, um, help them?

The Department of Truth Wild Fiction Special (Image, $4.99): James Tynion IV and Martin Simmonds’ two-issue The Department of Truth story featuring Bigfoot gets reprinted in this extra-length encore collection.

Mary Jane and Black Cat #1 (Marvel, $4.99): Two of Peter Parker’s better halves unite to form a whole (or something) in this miniseries that ties into the Dark Web crossover event. It’s by Jed MacKay, who wrote the recent Black Cat series, and artist Vincenzo Carratù.

Dark Web: Ms. Marvel #1 (Marvel, $3.99): Courtesy of Sabir Pirzada and Francesco Mortarino, Ms. Marvel also jumps into her own Dark Web crossover miniseries, as her internship at Oscorp results in a field trip to Limbo.

The Witcher: The Ballad of Two Wolves #1 (Dark Horse, $3.99): Geralt and Dandelion are back in this new miniseries by Bartosz Sztybor and Miki Montllo that features werewolves and more.

The Invisible Frontier (IDW, $24.99): In this graphic novel by Benoit Peeters and Francois Schuiten, a young cartographer attempts to flee a nation in chaos to save the mysterious woman he has fallen for.
