During the ComicsPro meeting currently happening in Pittsburgh — that’s the retailers’ industry meeting where publishers present their plans to them, among other activities — DC revealed their big crossover event for this summer. The horror-themed Knight Terrors will involve Superman, Batman, Wonder Woman, Deadman and more as they battle a new villain in the realm of nightmares.
Joshua Williamson spearheads the event, which will feature artwork by Howard Porter, Guillem March and more
“I love horror comics, and it’s been a blast bringing the energy to Dawn of DC. Knight Terrors showcases the horror side of our heroes as a brand-new villain confronts them with their worst nightmares,” said Williamson. “It’s a fun and horrific event that brings together all of the heroes and villains of DC, along with some surprises!”
From DC: Kicking off this July, Knight Terrors is a miniseries in which Batman, Superman, and Wonder Woman find the body of one of their earliest enemies at the Hall of Justice. Their investigation takes them past the land of the living, beyond the land of the dead, into a realm of nightmares . The only way to save the world is to call for the help of an unlikely hero, Deadman.
DC said the event will “take over the publishing line” in July and August, with multiple two-issue miniseries featuring characters and creative teams that have yet to be announced. They will also release Knight Terrors Free Comic Book Day Special Edition on May 6, featuring a story by Williamson, Porter and Chris Bachalo, doing his first work for the publisher in 20 years. Jason Fabok drew the cover:
Here’s a description of the FCBD issue: After a long night of crime-fighting with his father, Batman, Damian Wayne sleeps. But horrors invade his teenage dreams. Damian has seen a lot, but there is something different about this nightmare.
Knight Terrors will of course have variant covers; here are three themed ones by Francesco Mattina featuring Batman, Superman and Wonder Woman:
