Oni Press is continuing its EC Comics line with two new September releases.
First up is Cruel Kingdom 2, a second helping of the dark fantasy-horror miniseries that launched last year. The six-issue miniseries will kick off with stories by writers David M. Booher, Matt Bors and Jude Ellison S. Doyle, and artists Ryan Kelly, Lukas Ketner and David Lapham.
The anthology-style series continues the EC tradition of ironic, gruesome morality tales set in a medieval fantasy world. Future issues will include contributions from John Arcudi, Ramón F. Bachs, Sarah Gailey, Sami Kivelä, Curt Pires, SOM and Alison Sampson, among others.
The first issue will have a main cover by Mark Buckingham, with additional covers by Yanick Paquette, Shawn McManus and Rian Hughes. It comes out Sept. 2.
The following week, Oni will release The EC Comics Treasury of Terror Vol. 1, the first treasury-sized collection drawn from the imprint’s relaunch. The softcover collects stand-out stories from the first two years of Oni’s EC revival, pulling from Epitaphs From the Abyss, Catacomb of Torment, Cruel Kingdom and Shiver Suspenstories. Contributors include Jason Aaron, Cullen Bunn, Chris Condon, Kano, Matt Kindt, David Lapham, Shawn Martinbrough, Tony Moore, Greg Pak, Stephanie Phillips and Andrea Sorrentino, among many others. The cover is by Tyler Crook.
The EC Comics Treasury of Terror Vol. 1 is 104 pages and arrives Sept. 9.
