Batman & Robin: Year One — Dynamic Duos #1 (DC, $4.99): Mark Waid and Chris Samnee return to Batman and Robin’s early years with this new 12-issue series. This new series will add Catwoman and her own potential sidekick into the mix.
Miles Morales: Spider-Man #1 (Marvel, $4.99): Bryan Hill and Nico Leon launch a new Miles Morales: Spider-Man series, with Miles balancing school and his responsibilities as Brooklyn’s friendly neighborhood Spider-Man. In this first issue, a villain from his father’s past with S.H.I.E.L.D. threatens the Morales family.
The Foundry #1 (Dark Horse Comics, $4.99): Co-writers Mike Mignola and Chris Roberson team with artist Christopher Mitten for this four-issue series bringing together characters from Witchfinder and The British Paranormal Society. The Queen’s secret paranormal agency investigates supernatural technologies and the civilizations that once harnessed them.
Gargoyles #1 (Dynamite, $4.99): Series creator Greg Weisman and artist Gerardo Gambone team up for this new series of in-continuity Gargoyles stories set in 1997. As the Manhattan Clan continues its mission to protect New York, the Gargoyles search for a missing egg while an ancient evil awakens.
Hello Kitty and Friends: Hello World! #1 (IDW Publishing, $4.99): Well, Hello, Kitty! Mariko Tamaki and Cody Lemieux bring Hello Kitty and her friends into a new comic book series. When the various characters’ signature accessories mysteriously disappear, Detective Hello Kitty takes on the case while trying to keep her friends from turning on one another.
Star Wars: The Fall of Kylo Ren #1 (Marvel, $4.99): Kylo Ren’s history is explored in this third miniseries about the former Ben Solo. With Generals Hux and Pryde fighting for control of the First Order, Kylo uses his growing power to unite the fractured organization through fear. Charles Soule and Will Sliney explore this pivotal moment in Kylo Ren’s rise as Supreme Leader.
Godzilla’s Monsterpiece Theatre Presents: Roar of the Worlds (IDW Publishing, $7.99): The legendary Kyle Baker(!) takes Godzilla into H.G. Wells territory as the King of the Monsters defends Japan from Martian invaders in this 48-page one-shot. The issue also includes the third installment of Tom Scioli’s “Robin Hood and the Monster of Nottingham.”
Yumi 00EX #1 (Image Comics, $3.99): Doug Wagner and Hoyt Silva introduce Yumi, an MI6 operative who goes after the agency when her boyfriend disappears. Her investigation leads to an unusual ally: an AI-powered Lamborghini designed more like a weapon than a car.
Cult-de-Sac #1 (Ignition Press, $4.99): Cullen Bunn and Fico Ossio turn the homeowner’s association into a source of horror — Do they live in my neighborhood? — as a family discovers that breaking the rules in their new neighborhood can have terrifying consequences. I’m guessing those consequences are worse than complaints on the neighborhood Facebook group …
X-Men #35 (Marvel, $4.99): Hank McCoy is haunted by an older version of himself, the amoral Chairman of 3K, whose existence represents a major threat to the X-Men in this prologue to the upcoming DNX by Jed MacKay and Tony Daniel.
Biker Mice from Mars: Scorch #1 (Oni Press, $4.99): Matt Hotson and V Ken Marion introduce Scorch, the new Martian rider whose mysterious past connects her to Throttle, Vinnie, Modo and the Plutarkians.
Regicide #1 ((Image Comics, $3.99): Patrick Kindlon and Ludovic Lalliat launch this four-issue dark fantasy series about a farmhand ordered to travel to the capital with a dangerous stranger in order to assassinate the murderous viceroy of Transylvania.
Gastronomique #1 (BOOM! Studios, $4.99): Marguerite Bennett and Helena Masellis launch this historical body-horror thriller set during the French Revolution. Lady Charlotte, a spy known as the Python, hunts Tarrare, a notorious cannibal stalking the streets of revolutionary France.
Supergirl #16 and Action Comics #1101 (DC, $3.99 & $4.99): “Kingdom of Zod” kicks off with Supergirl assembling a team of heroes to challenge Zod as he takes over the Kryptonite kingdom of El Caldero. Then Superman returns to the present following last month’s landmark #1100 issue and finds himself in the middle of the war with Zod.
Queen in Black: Thor #1 and Venom #260 (Marvel, $4.99): Queen in Black continues this week with two crossover issues. First Al Ewing and Sergio Dávila show us Beta Ray Bill’s battle with Hela at the edge of space, while her plans for the Mortal Thor come to fruition on Earth. Meanwhile, Dylan Brock’s encounter with the Eventuality and the five answers he received about the future come back into focus as the dark future he was warned about begins to unfold.
Just Another Summer (Maverick, $21.99): Tilly and Susan Bridges, along with artist Giulia Rinaldo and AoiG, follow two teenage TV stars whose careers are derailed by a tabloid scandal, sending them to spend the summer working on a Montana dairy farm. Away from Hollywood, the sisters navigate new relationships and reconsider the futures they thought they wanted.
Neverlanders: Get Lost (G.P. Putnam’s Sons Books for Young Readers, $17.99):
Tom Taylor and Jon Sommariva return to Neverlanders with this second graphic novel. After saving Neverland from Peter Pan, Bee and the Lost Ones discover that the island’s magical tree is dying and set out on a quest for a cure, while risking growing up the longer they remain away.
My Beloved Other: A Memoir of Love, Race, and Optimism in a Time of Denial (23rd Street Books, $29.99): Nick Abadzis and Angela Watson chronicle their nearly 40-year interracial relationship and the experiences with racism that have shaped their lives in Britain and America.
Uncle Scrooge: Clan McDuck — Stories and Glories (Fantagraphics, $39.99):
This collection features new adventures starring members of Scrooge McDuck’s family tree, created by international comics creators like Alessandro Gatti, Kari Korhonen, Giulia Lomurno and Gianmarco Paraggio. The stories explore the exploits of ancestors including Swamphole McDuck, Molly Mallard, Matey McDuck and Sir Eider McDuck.
