Marvel announces ‘Black Widow: Black, White & Red Room’ miniseries spotlighting Natasha + Yelena

Stephanie Phillips, Devin Grayson, JG Jones and more will contribute stories to the anthology series, which launches in December.

Marvel’s Black, White & Blood anthology miniseries returns this December with Black Widow: Black, White & Red Room, a four-issue miniseries featuring Black Widow, White Widow and the brutal training program that made them.

Each issue will carry three stories: one centered on Natasha Romanoff, one on Yelena Belova and one digging into the broader Red Room and the characters it has shaped over the years. And like the other miniseries in this format, all the stories will be told in three colors: black, white and red.

Issue #1 features a heist story starring Black Widow by Stephanie Phillips and Giuseppe Camuncoli. The issue also reunites Yelena Belova co-creators Devin Grayson and JG Jones for a Yelena/Daredevil team-up. It wraps with a story by Jeremy Whitley and Bradley Clayton showing Nadia Van Dyne’s escape from the Red Room.

“Creating super hero comics is intensely collaborative,” Grayson said. “Returning to Yelena now, more than 20 years after J.G. and I first introduced her, is like joining a dynamic round-robin with everyone from esteemed colleagues to Black Widow filmmakers. It was an absolute joy to include and honor their contributions.”

Later issues are set to include work from Peach Momoko, Sam Humphries and others. Look for the first issue to land on Dec. 16.
