Caroline Cash will take over the ‘Nancy’ comic strip in 2026

Olivia Jaimes retires from the strip she rejuvenated in 2018.

Caroline Cash, the Eisner and Ignatz Award winning creator of PeePee PooPoo, will take over the comic strip Nancy from Olivia Jaimes next year.

Andrews McMeel Syndication and GoComics announced today that Olivia James, who turned heads when she took over Nancy in 2018, is retiring from the strip. Cash, who filled in for Jaimes on several guest strips last year, will take over in January.

“As a lifelong ‘Nancy’ fan, I’m honored to be given the opportunity to draw my favorite comic strip,” Cash said. “This is a real dream come true, and I look forward to sharing what I’ve been working on with everyone.”

‘Adventure Time’ returns to comics this April from Oni Press

Return to the Land of Ooo in a new ongoing series.

Adventure Time, the popular Cartoon Network series that spawned a 75-issue comic run at BOOM! Studios about a decade ago, will return to comics in April, courtesy of Oni Press.

The series will feature rotating creative teams, starting with animator and Bloody Mary creator Nick Winn. The comic will bring back Finn, Jake, Marceline, Princess Bubblegum and the other residents of The Land Of Ooo for the ongoing series.

Adventure Time was such a huge part of me growing up,” said Winn.” Not only was it hilarious, but it had such an emotional intelligence that very few shows could pull off back then. Being able to revisit the land of Ooo through Oni Press has really been such a joy and a challenge to build something new while still keeping the energy and charm the show cast on me in middle school!”

Three Count spotlights, as the title suggests, three comic things. Usually it’s three things with links, no more, no less. Today, however, it is more, because it’s Five Things.

To vote for: Your favorite Ignatz-nominated minicomics

On Sunday I ran down the five comics nominated in the “Outstanding Online Comic” category for the 2022 Ignatz Awards. With voting open to anyone on the internet, my assumption is that folks would like to make informed choices on their ballots, and webcomics are the most easily accessible comics out there, right? Just give me a URL and off I go.

But that got me thinking about some of the other categories, and whether it would be easy to read everything nominated. With the graphic novel category, for example, it would be easy enough for the ambitious sort to hunt down all five nominees, whether that’s via a good local book store or comic shop, or, of course, through online ordering. But the minicomics category might be a little more challenging, so here’s a rundown of where you can find all five of the nominees.
