The bunny did it: ‘Exquisite Corpses: Rascal Randy’ launches in July

Tyler Boss and Dylan Burnett explore the dark origins of the fan-favorite mascot killer in a five-issue series from Tiny Onion and Image Comics.

Tiny Onion and Image Comics have announced that the rabbit suit-wearing killer from Exquisite Corpses, Rascal Randy, will star in a five-issue spinoff series from writer Tyler Boss and artist Dylan Burnett. Colorist Jordie Bellaire and letterer Becca Carey round out the creative team.

Rascal Randy is one of a dozen assassins dispatched to the town of Oak Valley, Maine, where they compete in a deadly game of, well, trying to kill each other for their ultra-powerful and ultra-demented clients, in the pages of James Tynion IV and Michael Walsh’s Exquisite Corpses.

“From the moment I saw the full cast of killers for Exquisite Corpses, I, like most discerning readers, knew Randy would be the winner of the first season’s game,” said Boss. “Now while I still can’t say whether we’ve been proven correct or not, I can say the story Dylan and I have created for everyone’s favorite furry fiend is as sweet and cuddly as a porcupine.”

‘Arcade Kings’ ascends to the throne at Skybound in May

Dylan Burnett writes and draws a new series about ‘video game infused fighting’ that kicks off in May.

Dylan Burnett‘s new project promises to introduce a world of “fists, family, and video game infused fighting that will leave you speechless.” Skybound will publish Arcade Kings, which is written and drawn by Burnett beginning in May.

Burnett will be joined by colorists Walter Baiamonte and Sara Antonellini on the series.

“Get ready to rumble! I cannot wait for readers to get their hands on Arcade Kings,” said Amanda LaFranco, editor at Skybound. “Along with some incredible action and unique characters, Dylan has been able to weave a compelling story about family, brotherhood, and going all-in for the people you love. But really, it’s just flat-out fun! Both Walter and Sara’s colors are elevating each page with a vibrancy and emotion that’s inspired by our favorite classic arcade games, but for any fan of epic fights and general awesomeness.”

Sunday Comics | 24-Hour Comic Day, Inktober and more

Check out recent comics by Melanie Gillman, Derek Laufman, Elsa Charretier and more.

Here’s a round up of some of the best comics we’ve seen online recently. If we missed something, let us know in the comments below.

I mentioned Swordtember in a post earlier today, and it’s far from the only online challenge aimed at creators going on on social media right now. Yesterday, in fact, was 24-Hour Comic Day, the “annual celebration of comics creation” where artists attempt to create an entire comic in 24 hours.

As the Crow Flies creator Melanie Gillman once again took up the challenge, creating a comic called The Night-Mother. It’s a horror story, and Gillman includes several content warnings at the beginning, including violence and miscarriage. But it’s a very well-done comic, especially for one they created in just 24 hours — or almost, anyway. Gillman still has a few pages left that they were hoping to finish today. Here’s the first page:
