Millar, Coipel team for ‘The Magic Order’ comic from Netflix

New comic debuts next year from the streaming giant.

When Netflix acquired Millarworld back in August, we were left with some quetsions around what this meant for the Millarworld comics themselves. While Mark Millar has been writing books like Kick-Ass, Superior and Secret Service for years now, he’s worked with various publishers like Image and Marvel’s Icon imprint to publish them.

Apparently we have a new comics publisher in town, and its name is Netflix:

According to Entertainment Weekly, the first comic by Millar under “the Netflix banner” is The Magic Order, with artist Olivier Coipel.

“So my idea with The Magic Order was to take something that’s essentially about a secret order of good wizards who got rid of all the bad things hundreds of years ago, but live quietly among us now with blue-collar jobs and ordinary domestic lives,” Millar told EW. “They have this secret life, but to the outside world it’s all very normal and it makes the idea look more like The Sopranos than Lord of the Rings.”

I think this was my favorite question that Netflix received on Twitter:

The six-issue series is set to launch next spring — one issue at a time.
