Drawn + Quarterly announces new 2020 releases

At Comic-Con International, the Canadian publisher announced new books from Adrian Tomine, Lisa Hanawalt and more.

At Comic-Con International yesterday, Drawn & Quarterly announced several new graphic novels for 2020, including new work from Adrian Tomine, R. Sikoryak, Leslie Stein and Walter Scott, among others.

Check them out below.

The Loneliness of the Long-Distance Cartoonist by Adrian Tomine

Spring 2020

This is described as a comedic memoir from the creator of Killing and Dying, Shortcomings and Sleepwalk, among other works. It’s about “fandom, fame, and other embarrassments from the life of the New York Times bestselling cartoonist.” Check out some preview pages below.

Constitution Illustrated by R. Sikoryak

Spring 2020

The creator of Masterpiece Comics deconstructs the American Constitution, using the cast of Peanuts, Ms. Marvel, Dennis the Menace, The Simpsons and many more. “Sikoryak distills the very essence of government legalese from the abstract to the tangible with the help of 100 years of American pop culture icons.” Sounds like the perfect companion piece to Shannon Wheeler’s Mueller Report adaptation.

I Know You Rider by Leslie Stein

Spring 2020

Leslie Stein, creator of Majestic Creature short story collections, offers an “open-hearted and philosophical abortion memoir exploring the many complex questions surrounding the decision to reproduce.”

Wendy, Master of Art by Walter Scott

Spring 2020

Walter Scott returns to his Wendy character with a “hilarious and uncomfortably accurate portrayal of art school and fine art culture.”

The Sky is Blue with a Single Cloud by Tsurita Kuniko

Spring 2020

Described as “the definitive collection from Garo cartoonist Tsurita Kuniko,” these comics have never before been available in English. Translated by Ryan Holmberg.

I Want You by Lisa Hanawalt

Fall 2020

A collection of Lisa Hanawalt‘s early work, along with an all-new introductory comic “that contextualizes these dirty, funny and absurd stories within her body of work.”
