Heroes Return #1 (Marvel, $5.99): “And there came a day unlike any other, when Earth’s Mightiest Heroes were united against a common threat!” After seven issues of Heroes Reborn and numerous one-shots, the Avengers reassemble to battle the Squadron Supreme, Phil Coulson and Mephisto.
Spawn’s Universe #1 (Image Comics, $5.99): The best-selling Image Comic of the last couple decades arrives Wednesday, kicking off a whole line of Spawn comics coming from Todd McFarlane and friends. This one features writing and art from McFarlane, as well as art from Jim Cheung, Stephen Segovia and Marcio Takara.
Infinite Frontier #1 (DC, $4.99): A new era of DC Comics kicked off with the Infinite Frontier “zero” issue, and now several of the storylines — focusing on Jade, Obsidian, their dad, Roy Harper and others — spin off into this miniseries by Joshua Williamson and Xermanico.
Snow Angels, Season Two #1 (comiXology Originals, $2.99): Jeff Lemire and Jock continue the adventures of Milliken and Mae, as they continue to break all the rules they were taught all their lives and venture out into the frozen world they call home. This one will be available from comiXology on Tuesday.
Batman: Reptilian #1 (DC, $4.99): Garth Ennis returns to DC for a Black Label miniseries with artist Liam Sharp, where they will introduce a villain that even the other Gotham villains are afraid of — even more than Batman.
Wonder Woman: Black and Gold #1 (DC, $5.99): Like Batman and Superman before her, Wonder Woman gets a two-color series as well, with her accent color being gold. The first issue of the anthology features stories by John Arcudi and Ryan Sook, Becky Cloonan, Amy Reeder, AJ Mendez and Ming Doyle, and Nadia Shammas and Morgan Beem.
Black Hammer Reborn #1 (Dark Horse, $3.99): Jeff Lemire and new series artist Caitlin Yarsky pick up the Black Hammer story 20 years later, as they focus on Lucy Weber, who took up her father’s mantle and became the new Black Hammer.
Checkmate #1 (DC, $3.99): Green Arrow, the Question, Talia al Ghul and more form a new version of Checkmate, the super secret spy organization, to confront Leviathan, the other secret organization that was introduced in the Event Leviathan series. Expect lots of cloak and dagger action from Brian Michael Bendis and Alex Maleev.
Gamma Flight #1 (Marvel, $3.99): Puck, Titania, Absorbing Man, Doc Sasquatch and Rick Jones will assemble under a familiar name with a clever twist: Gamma Flight. The spinoff from Immortal Hulk is written by Al Ewing and Crystal Frasier, who have worked together previously on Immortal Hulk, with art by Lan Medina.
Marvel Voices: Pride #1 (Marvel, $9.99): Marvel’s latest “Voices” one-shot os focused on the LGBTQ+ community and features stories by Kieron Gillen, Allan Heinberg, Jim Cheung, Kris Anka, Tini Howard and many more.
