If you’ve been reading DC’s excellent Poison Ivy series, you know that 1) Pamela Isley, aka Poison Ivy, is now mayor of Gotham and 2) That isn’t exactly the kind of thing you think would go well, having a former (former?) Bat villain serving as mayor. It’s a powder keg, and it looks like it’s set to blow in Batman: Bad Seeds this August.
DC revealed more details about the event, which they first announced back in February at ComicsPro. It’ll feature Matt Fraction and G. Willow Wilson teaming up with a host of artists to tell the story of one really bad night for Gotham, which will spread into the other Bat titles over the course of 10 weeks.
The story gets a prelude chapter in August’s Poison Ivy #47 by Wilson and artist Leandro Fernandez. It’ll show how Gotham is fed up with Mayor Poison Ivy, setting the events in motion. It’ll feature a main cover by Jessica Fong, with variant covers by Noobovich, Manny Vincent Carbonilla and Kyuyong Eom:
Things will kick into high gear in Batman: Bad Seeds – Sunset #1 by Wilson and Fraction, with art and cover by Giuseppe Camuncoli, Cliff Rathburn, and Tomeu Morey. Poison Ivy’ has plans for Gotham’s plans for her city include turning it into a hostile landscape of prehistoric plant life:
As Ivy’s plants spread, Gotham begins to mutate—buildings swallowed by vines, streets overtaken by carnivorous flora, and entire neighborhoods reverting to a primordial state. With the Bat-Family hunted, the GCPD fractured under Commissioner Vandal Savage’s militarized rule, and civilians trapped in a city turning against them, Gotham City becomes a living battleground where every chapter brings a new evolution.

The events will then spread into September and October’s Bat titles, including Batman, Poison Ivy, Detective Comics, Batgirl, Batwoman, Catwoman, Nightwing and Harley Quinn, alongside several new event titles.
