Publisher will host livestreams and other activities following the cancellation of the Emerald City Comic Con.
Iron Circus Comics, one of the scheduled exhibitors at this year’s now-postponed Emerald City Comic Con, has announced plans to host a virtual, livestreamed convention this coming weekend called Pajama Con 2020.
Pajama Con will take place from noon to 6p.m. Central March 13-15 on the Pajama Con Twitch channel. Guests so far include Steve Leiber, Chris Roberson, Lin Visel, Genue Revuelta, C. Spike Trotman and Kate Leth, with more to be announced.

Following the many exhibitors and creators who opted not to attend this year due to coronavirus concerns, the Emerald City Comic Con has announced they will postpone the convention until this summer. An exact date has not been announced yet.
“Our hearts go out to the entire Seattle community, everyone impacted by the COVID-19 virus, and all of you, the nearly 100,000 amazing human beings who look forward to this event each year,” ECCC said in a statement on their website. “Our team was incredibly excited to see you at Emerald City Comic Con next week, however, fans, artists, exhibitors and the rest of the community are what make Reedpop events so special and it is our duty to make sure that your safety comes first.”

Multiple exhibitors, including DC Comics, Dark Horse and Penguin Random House, have announced they will no longer attend this year’s Emerald City Comic Con, citing concerns over the coronavirus (COVID-19). Seattle, ECCC’s host city, has seen nine people die of the virus since Feb. 26.
In a statement to the Hollywood Reporter, DC Comics said they are cancelling all of their convention appearances for the rest of March.
In addition, several comics creators, including Jim Zub, Jen Bartel, Benjamin Percy, Richard Pace, Christian Ward and Jody LeHeup, have said they will no longer appear at ECCC.

The Angoulême international comics festival (a.k.a. FIBD Angoulême) opened yesterday with the announcement that French writer Emmanuel Guibert had been awarded this year’s Grand Prix. Guibert is a frequent collaborator of Joann Sfar; the two worked together on The Professor’s Daughter and the Sardine in Space series, and he is also the writer of The Photographer, Alan’s War, and the children’s series Ariol (this last is published in English by Papercutz, while all the others are published here by First Second).

The adorable glass sculpture house Bling Squared traveled over 2,200 km from Canada to table at their third San Diego Comic-Con, but in a heartbreaking moment, their entire booth display and one of their cases containing half their inventory were stolen.
On their Instagram account, founders Neacol and Stanley Miler made a public appeal for the return of their lost merchandise.
The new comic by Michael Green, Mike Johnson and Andres Guinaldo will receive a variant in San Diego as it hits comic shops nationwide on Wednesday.
Titan Comics will debut its adaptation of the classic science fiction movie movie Blade Runner this week, both in comic shops and at Comic-Con International in San Diego.
Written by Michael Green and Mike Johnson, and drawn by Andres Guinaldo, Blade Runner 2019 will “tell original, in-canon stories set in the Blade Runner universe.” Check out a preview below.

In the age of Hollywood-driven mega-cons, the Panel One Comic Creator Festival promises to bring the spotlight of comic conventions back to (gasp!) comics! Now in its third year, the Festival, which is held in Calgary, seems small and humble, but truly packs a punch for local creators, that feel lost and forgotten at the big shows. In its short life, the Panel One Comic Creator Festival has been renowned as “THE” place for creators to sell comics, some noting they have larger sales at this tiny festival as opposed to the 100,000 people attended monolith cons. This isn’t Artist Alley, so you won’t find fanart here, but this is the perfect market for the curious and the diehard comic fan to discover and buy new comic books.

The Emerald City Comic Con’s annual Monsters & Dames art book has raised more than $100K for the Seattle Children’s Hospital since the convention first started publishing it in 2009. The charitable book returns at this year’s show, set for March 1-4, and they’ve got a pretty awesome line-up of artists slated for this edition.
With a Madman cover by Mike and Laura Allred, the book will include 88 pieces by Jim Mahfood, Cassie Kelly, Devin Lawson, Camilla d’Errico, Kyle Starks, Bret Blevins, Brian Denham and many more. Check out the full list on the ECCC website, and check out a few of the submissions below.
