Marvel + DC surprise release more crossover comics on their digital platforms

‘The Flash/Fantastic Four’ arrives on DC Universe Infinite, while ‘Thor/Shazam’ debuts on Marvel Unlimited.

Marvel and DC’s renewed bromance took a new form today, as both publishers debuted a new crossover comic on their respective digital platforms.

Thor/Shazam! by Al Ewing and Jethro Morales can be found on Marvel Unlimited, while The Flash/Fantastic Four by Jeremy Adams and Adrián Gutiérrez arrived on DC Universe Infinite. Both require a subscription, but if you’re subscribed to one of them, Marvel and DC are offering 30-day trials so you can check out the other if you like. Yes, Marvel is promoting DC Universe Infinite and DC is promoting Marvel Unlimited. Up is down, left is right … dogs and cats, living together, and all that. It’s nice to see them working together again, and these stories look like fun

Nominees announced for the 2025 Russ Manning Award

The annual awards program recognizes the comic industry’s most promising newcomers and will be presented alongside the Eisner Awards in July at Comic-Con International.

Comic-Con International has announced the nominees for this year’s Russ Manning Most Promising Newcomer Award, which will be presented in July.

Named for the creator of Magnus, Robot Fighter, the award recognizes a new artist who “shows a superior knowledge and ability in the art of creating comics.”

Previous winners include Dave Stevens, Eleanor Davis, Jeff Smith, Marion Churchland, David Petersen, Tyler Crook, Dan Mora, Lorena Alvarez, Nate Simpson, Luana Vecchio and Zoe Thorogood. The Mushroom Knight creator Oliver Bly won the Manning Award last year.

Blue Beetle will face a ‘Scarab War’ in September

The ‘Graduation Day’ creative team will continue to tell stories featuring Jaime Reyes this fall.

With the final issue of Blue Beetle: Graduation Day arriving this week, DC has announced that Jaime Reyes’ adventures will continue in September with an ongoing series by the same creative team of writer Josh Trujillo and artists Adrian Gutiérrez, Wil Quintana and Lucas Gattoni.

The miniseries introduced two new beetles, Dynastes and Nitida, and they’ll continue to play a role in the new series, with the first arc titled “Scarab War.”

DC’s ‘Comics Are Fun For Everyone’ Panel features Superman, Blue Beetle and Bruce Campbell

A new graphic novel by Sina Grace and a surprise appearance from Ash Williams highlight the Comic-Con panel.

In San Diego today, DC’s “Comics Are Fun for Everyone” panel brought plenty of news on upcoming graphic novels like Superman: The Harvest of Youth and Constantine: Distorted Illusions, and also plenty of fun in the form of actor and writer Bruce Campbell.

Campbell was on hand to promote Sgt. Rock vs. The Army of the Dead, his upcoming miniseries with artist Eduardo Risso.
