16 nominees announced for the 2026 Will Eisner Hall of Fame

Four will be inducted into the Hall of Fame this summer in San Diego.

Following the announcement last month of the 18 judge’s picks for the Will Eisner Hall of Fame, the nomination committee has announced the 16 creators who will go on the 2026 ballot. Four of them will be chosen by voters to be inducted into the Hall of Fame.

The 16 nominees are Kate Carew, Colleen Doran, George Evans, Crockett Johnson, Peter Kuper, George McManus, Kevin Nowlan, Mimi Pond, Posy Simmonds, Jeff Smith, Paul Smith, Leonard Starr, Akira Toriyama, Mark Waid, Chris Ware and S. Clay Wilson.

They were chosen by a committee that includes Michael T. Gilbert, Karen Green, Alonso Nuñez, Diana Schutz, Jim Thompson and Maggie Thompson. Votes will be cast as part of the Eisner Awards by eligible voters, with the winners being announced during this summer’s Comic-Con International in San Diego.

In Memory: Comic creators we lost in 2024

As we move into 2025, we pay respect to some of the comics creators we lost last year.

As we move into the new year, we take a moment to remember the comic writers, artists and editors we lost in 2024.

José María Del Bó, known professionally as José Delbo, passed away at the age of 90 in February. The Argentine comics artist was known for his work on Superman’s Pal Jimmy OlsenWorld’s FinestBatman Family and Wonder Woman in the 1960s and 1970s, as well as Transformers, ThunderCats, Captain Planet and the Planeteers and NFL SuperPro at Marvel.

2019 Eisner Hall of Fame nominees announced

Jim Aparo, Dave Stevens, June Tarpé Mills and Morrie Turner will be automatically inducted, while voters will choose four more from a field of 14.

Comic-Con International has announced this year’s nominees for the Eisner Hall of Fame. They include the four judges’ choices — who will be automatically inducted — and 14 other nominees, four of whom will be inducted based on voters’ choices.

The judges’ choices are Jim Aparo, who is probably best known for his work on various Batman titles, including Batman and the Outsiders; Dave Stevens, creator of the Rocketeer; June Tarpé Mills, the Golden Age creator of Miss Fury; and Morrie Turner, creator of the Wee Pals newspaper strip in the 1960s.
