Ex-lovers fight the forces of Hell in ‘Exorcists Never Die’

Steve Orlando and Sebastián Píriz present a new miniseries coming from Mad Cave next year.

Mad Cave Studios has announced Exorcists Never Die, an action story of Biblical proportions by writer Steve Orlando and artist Sebastián Píriz, with lettering by Carlos M. Mangual.

The story features two exorcists who are also ex-lovers — and they’re brought back together to save thousands of souls being auctioned off in Los Angeles as a part of the bigger war between Heaven and Hell.

“We’re giving you action to the sky in this book, but it’s important to me for much more than that. Here’s a vivid exploration of biblical mythology, of what it means to fight a war, or even merely survive, in a world where only one side’s playing by the rules,” Orlando said. “It’s about the power of belief—not in the unknowable, but the knowable, the one fighting beside you. And in that unjust environment, we have two masters of their craft on the streets and catastrophes in the sheets, ex-lovers who’ve got no choice but to overcome the forces that drove them apart if they want to survive the most dangerous exorcism to ever hit the earthly plane.”

AfterShock plans to ruin your childhood with ‘Tales of Mother F. Goose’

The one-shot by Frank Tieri and Joe Eisma mashes up fairy tales with a mobster murder mystery.

Writer Frank Tieri, artist Joe Eisma, colorist Matt Herms and letterer Carlos M. Mangual are teaming up to put a new spin on some really old classics.

Tales of Mother F. Goose, a prestige format one-shot, will continue the fairy-tales-meet-gangster-movie world set up in AfterShock’s Shock anthology and the upcoming AfterDark Halloween special.

“Basically both these projects expand on the world we set up in ‘Little Red Hood’ — and they do it through the mob boss who is essentially the glue that holds all this shit together, Don Francesco Orca, our Mother F. Goose. (Orca means Goose in Italian. And yeah, his name is Francesco. What did ya think the F stood for? ;))” Tieri said.

It’s a world where the Three Little Pigs own a casino, Little Miss Muffet is a cop and The Three Blind Mice are assassins.

AfterShock announces ‘Search for Hu’ by Orlando, Tsuei + Rubine

The new series will debut in September.

Writers Jon Tsuei and Steve Orlando will team with artist Rubine, colorist DC Alonso and letterer Carlos M. Mangual for Search for Hu, a new series from AfterShock Comics.

Search for Hu is about a man, Aaron Tse, who discovers his family has ties to organized crime in the worst way possible, sending him across an ocean to protect his parents.

Search for Hu is a first of its kind cross-cultural action thriller, digging into a shared history of Jewish and Chinese lineage dating back to the Russian Revolution,” Orlando said. “It’s about the cultural connections we never expect, something Jon and I discovered together. But that’s the tapestry. The story is about a man, Aaron Tse, who discovers this part of his family’s past in the most explosive way possible: when it comes back to haunt them.”
