Che Grayson + Adam Gorham put the spotlight on another ‘Exquisite Corpses’ killer

‘Exquisite Corpses: Fox Mask Killer’ reveals the backstory of the franchise’s most enigmatic assassin in a five-issue miniseries arriving in September.

Tiny Onion and Image Comics have announced the next Exquisite Corpses spinoff: Exquisite Corpses: Fox Mask Killer, a five-issue series from Che Grayson and Adam Gorham that launches in September.

The two creators previously worked together on Exquisite Corpses #4, which featured the showdown between Fox Mask Killer and another of the killers, Lady Carolina. Colorist Jordie Bellaire and letterer Becca Carey, both of whom are also working on the first Exquisite Corpse spinoff, Rascal Randy, round out the creative team.

Grayson said the miniseries will reveal the face behind the mask, something the original series kept hidden, along with the character’s full backstory.

Smash Pages Q&A | Che Grayson + Kelsey Ramsay on ‘Dark Spaces: Good Deeds’

The co-creators of the new title from Scott Snyder’s new imprint at IDW discuss how they came to comics, their approach to the story and more.

Last summer, after the release of Dark Spaces: Wildfire, IDW announced that writer Scott Snyder would curate a series of comics under the “Dark Spaces” label, written and drawn by different creators. They also announced the second title from the imprint, Dark Spaces: Good Deeds by writer Che Grayson and artist Kelsey Ramsay.

When the announcement was made, Snyder said his intent with the line was to “champion up-and-coming talent,” but “up-and-coming” may not apply to Grayson and Ramsay for long, based on what I’ve seen in the first issue. Together they’ve created a compelling “Southern Gothic” horror tale that draws as much from real-world fears as it does from the supernatural. I caught up with the writer and artist to talk about how it all came together, their approach to the story and more.

The first issue will arrive in stores on May 17.

Scott Snyder’s ‘Dark Spaces’ will continue at IDW with new stories, different creators

‘Dark Spaces: Good Deeds’ by Che Grayson and Kelsey Ramsay will debut next year.

This week saw the launch of the new comic series Dark Spaces: Wildfire by Scott Snyder and Hayden Sherman, but it turns out this new miniseries is only the tip of the iceberg for Snyder’s plans at IDW.

At Comic-Con this week, IDW announced that Snyder will curate a series of comics under the “Dark Spaces” label, written and drawn by different creators. Think of it kind of like his own imprint, or maybe a sub-imprint of the IDW Originals line.

The second Dark Spaces title will debut next year and is titled Dark Spaces: Good Deeds. It’s written by Che Grayson (Batman: Urban Legends, Bitch Planet) with art by Kelsey Ramsay (Joan Jett and the Blackhearts 40×40)
