Tiny Onion and Image Comics have announced the next Exquisite Corpses spinoff: Exquisite Corpses: Fox Mask Killer, a five-issue series from Che Grayson and Adam Gorham that launches in September.
The two creators previously worked together on Exquisite Corpses #4, which featured the showdown between Fox Mask Killer and another of the killers, Lady Carolina. Colorist Jordie Bellaire and letterer Becca Carey, both of whom are also working on the first Exquisite Corpse spinoff, Rascal Randy, round out the creative team.
Grayson said the miniseries will reveal the face behind the mask, something the original series kept hidden, along with the character’s full backstory.

“From the moment James and Michael welcomed me into the world of Exquisite Corpses, I knew It was something special,” Grayson said. “I gravitated instantly to Fox Mask Killer, a character whose design alone provoked a rich backstory and undeniable aura. The biggest treat for me as a writer was the challenge of bringing depth to a character whose face readers would never see…until now. With this new limited series, the mask finally comes off, and I couldn’t be more excited to team up again with my best mate Adam alongside stellar talents Jordie and Becca. This is a dream project for me and I think fans of Fox Mask Killer and the Exquisite Corpses series are going to be very happy with the high stakes and even higher emotions thrill ride we have her on.”
In the miniseries, Fox Mask Killer pursues the one thing even she can’t have: a way out of the life. The only person who can offer her that opportunity may be the devil herself.
“I’m thrilled about returning to the blood-thirsty world of Exquisite Corpses,” said Gorham. “The experience on Season One of the series was so fun and unique. My first issue, which brought Che and I together, focused on Fox Mask and Lady Carolina, and in the end it was clear to everyone involved that there was much more to explore with those characters. So here we are! Che and the ‘Onions’ have cracked a dynamite story filled with brutal action and razor sharp characters, and I have the great pleasure to draw it all.”
Gorham drew the main cover for the first issue, which will have variants by Annie Wu, Mike Huddleston, Inhyuk Lee and Ito, all shown below.

Exquisite Corpses co-creator Michael Walsh will also do a variant, which will come polybagged with a collectible trading card tied to Exquisite Corpses: The Game.
Fox Mask Killer is the second of several announced spinoffs, following Rascal Randy in July and preceding Exquisite Corpses: Lone Gunman by Pornsak Pichetshote and Alberto Ponticelli, plus an anthology one-shot, Exquisite Corpses: Book of the Dead.
Exquisite Corpses: Fox Mask Killer #1 arrives Sept. 16.
