Darcy Van Poelgeest + Ian Bertram reunite for dark fantasy ‘The Karman Blade’

The creative team behind ‘Little Bird’ and ‘Precious Metal’ are back with a new miniseries in September.

Darcy Van Poelgeest and Ian Bertram are reuniting for The Karman Blade, a four-issue dark fantasy miniseries from Image Comics launching in September

The series is about a man on the outskirts of a dying desert world who is chosen by a blade forged from the stars to slay a despotic deity named Kalu, who hoards the world’s water in his kingdom. Before the boy can begin his quest, he must first confront his own demons and answer the blade’s call.

“The Karman Blade is a feral work,” Bertram said. “It’s something Darcy and I made in a swamp of beautiful and festering creativity. Now it emerges, tall, and rough and wide eyed. Glistening and set to purpose. It’s a work of passion and obsession and I can’t wait to finally set it free and share it with everyone!”

Al Ewing + Steve Lieber ‘get groovy’ with ‘Metamorpho: The Element Man’ this December

‘This is 100% fun comics, delivered with total confidence, visceral joy and absolutely no winking to the camera.’

Some announcements just make you want to smile, like this one: Al Ewing and Steve Lieber will team up for a new series featuring Metamorpho, as part of DC’s All In initiative. Or maybe that should be “Al In,” considering it’s one of Ewing’s first major projects with the publisher.

Metamorpho: The Element Man will feature “done-in-ones” stories that build up to something bigger, according to Ewing, who is paired with Lieber of Jimmy Olsen fame. They’re joined by Lee Loughridge on colors.

“This is 100% fun comics, delivered with total confidence, visceral joy and absolutely no winking to the camera,” Ewing said. “It’s a love letter to Bob Haney, Ramona Fradon and the spirit of superheroes at their wildest and weirdest—we’re aiming to catch the essential fab-freakiness of Metamorpho like lightning in a bottle and get groovy with it in our own special way.”

Return to the world of ‘Little Bird’ this summer in ‘Precious Metal’

Darcy Van Poelgeest  and Ian Bertram return to the world of their Eisner-Award-winning series from Image Comics.

Writer Darcy Van Poelgeest  and artist Ian Bertram will return to the world of their Eisner Award-winning comic series Little Bird in Precious Metal, a six-issue miniseries that launches in June from Image Comics.

“Precious Metal has been the biggest, and most fulfilling, undertaking of my creative career,” said Van Poelgeest. “Returning to the world of Little Bird with Ian Bertram brought on a deeper collaboration than I thought possible, and the results are something transformative—for the work and myself. After nearly five years of immersion and experimentation, I’m thrilled to finally bring this monster of a book to readers worldwide.”
