The first issue of the miniseries arrives in May from Mad Cave Studios.
Writer Jordan Thomas and artist Chris Matthews will team up on Mugshots, a new miniseries coming from Mad Cave Studios in May. They’re joined by letterer by Lucas Gattoni on a crime series with a distinctly English flair.
Set in Brighton, the story starts with a kidnapping and soon devolves into “family trauma, betrayal, murder and revenge.”
“Mugshots is an incredibly personal story for me. It’s set around where I grew up, contains experiences I’ve had and features characters based on people I’ve known, and it’s a collaboration with one of my best friends whom I’ve known since we were 11-years-old,” said Thomas. “Mainstream U.S. comics are full of crime stories set in the States but not many set in England by English creators, so I’m excited to see the reaction to this series we’ve poured our hearts and souls into and so happy that Mad Cave are the publisher putting the book out as they never put any restraints on what we wanted to do. It’s a tough, violent, complex, and sometimes funny 36-page per issue 4-parter – not many publishers out there would let you do that. It’s gonna be wild.”

“… you’ll YEE-HAW! for sure when you pick this one up …”
Jordan Thomas and Shaky Kane are already shaking up the detective genre with their L.A. Confidential meets Futurama series Weird Work, and next they’re taking aim at a post-apocalyptic western in The Man From Maybe, which was announced today at the San Diego Comic Con by Oni Press.
“Saddle-up the Atomic Hoss, turn Grandma’s TV up to full retina burn, and head out across the wasteland,” said Kane. “There’s no maybe about it, you’ll YEE-HAW! for sure when you pick this one up. Some of the treats Jordan served up surprised even me, and I drew the dang thing!”
Each of the three issues of the miniseries will run 48 pages and will feature a “high potency dose of eye-searing, shoot-’em-up action on the high plains of our ruined planet.”

‘Weird Work’ by Jordan Thomas and Shaky Kane will introduce a gritty world filled with crazy characters.
Frank At Home On The Farm writer Jordan Thomas and Bulletproof Coffin artist Shaky Kane will team for a new miniseries, Weird Work, that applies Kane’s colorful, psychedelic artwork to a detective story.
Described as a mix of the “hard-boiled noir of LA Confidential” with “the bright, alien-filled worlds of Futurama,” the four-issue miniseries will arrive from Image Comics in July.
“While tightly scripted, the Weird Work universe was broad enough to allow me to put a pure comic book, Shaky-spin on the visuals,” Kane said. “A real fun book to draw. I just know that readers are going to share our enthusiasm for this off-kilter take on a hard-boiled future detective yarn.”
