Sam Alexander’s Nova returns to face the Ten Rings of Power this October

The young hero will star in a Marvel’s Voices one-shot celebrating Hispanic & Latin American Heritage Month.

Sam Alexander, the younger Nova introduced in 2011, is stepping back into the ring in a new one-shot — well, make that “rings.” Marvel has announced Nova: Return of the Rings #1, a Marvel’s Voices one-shot arriving in October that kicks off a new saga centered on the Ten Rings of Power and doubles as a celebration of Hispanic & Latin American Heritage Month.

Writer Josh Trujillo, who’s also writing Planet of the Apes Vs. Fantastic Four, is joined by Rafael Loureiro, known for his work on Dazzler. A bonus story by writer Juan Ponce and artist Andy Pereira rounds out the issue, focusing on how Sam balances heroics with family life.

If you’re not up on your recent Marvel lore, the Ten Rings of Power, once worn by The Mandarian, were blasted across space by Ironheart and Forge in the pages of Invincible Iron Man. Now one ring has returned with a new bearer determined to seize the Xandarian Worldmind, the sentient supercomputer that guides the Nova Corps, as the first step toward galactic domination. If you read the recent Nova series starring the older Nova, Richard Rider, you know the Worldmind is currently in his possession, so maybe we’ll see a guest appearance here?

‘Rogue Storm,’ ‘Sinister’s Six’ + more new titles revealed as part of the ‘Age of Revelation’

Gail Simone, Lucas Werneck, David Marquez and more will continue this new era of X-Men titles.

Marvel continues to roll out more details on Age of Revelation, the X-Men event that’ll jump 10 years into a future where Doug Ramsey, former New Mutant and current heir to Apocalypse, rules over the world.

Marvel revealed that they’ll publish (at least) 16 titles as part of the event, with fun twists on existing titles and characters like Cloak or Dagger and Undeadpool. Five titles and their creative teams were revealed yesterday.

Like yesterday’s announcement, today’s reveal shows that some of the creative teams for these titles can be mapped back to the current line-up — Gail Simone will continue writing the stories and characters we’re seeing in Uncanny X-Men, while Storm writer Murewa Ayodele is writing a Storm vs. Rogue title. Cavan Scott and Ruairi Coleman will revisit the relationship between Emma Frost and Tony Stark that we saw form at the end of the Krakoa era, while David Marquez (who has been showing his writing chops on titles like The Unchosen) and Rafael Loureiro bring together six random characters to pull off a heist for Mr. Sinister.

Check out the four titles announced today, all of which kick off Oct. 15, and I expect we’ll get more as the week goes on.

Dazzler hits the road in a new miniseries by Jason Loo + Rafael Loureiro

The world tour begins in September.

It’s been decades since Dazzler has headlined her own series, but this September she returns to the spotlight in a four-issue miniseries by Jason Loo and Rafael Loureiro.

Part of the From the Ashes initiative, Dazzler is heading out on tour in a post-Krakoa world to promote mutant rights and celebrate her music career. She’ll be joined by her squad, which includes a whole bunch of mutants — head of security Domino, personal guard Strong Guy, one-man roadie Multiple Man, drummer Shark Girl, and publicist Wind Dancer.

“Rafael and I are giving everyone backstage access to the greatest show of the decade: the Dazzler World Tour!” Loo said. “Sounds exciting? Not for Dazzler when she’s facing tons of pressure from all sorts of people trying to cancel her shows. But she’s not going down without a fight.”
