NYCC: DC + Milestone announce ‘Icon vs. Hardware’

The miniseries written by Reggie Hudlin and Leon Chills begins in February.

Two cornerstone of the Milestone universe will clash next year in Icon vs. Hardware, a five-issue miniseries coming from DC.

DC Publisher and CCO Jim Lee announced the new series during his Jim Lee & Friends Panel at New York Comic Con earlier today. The story spins out of the Milestones in History anthology from earlier this year and will be co-written by Reggie Hudlin and Leon Chills.

According to the publisher, Icon vs. Hardware “pits two of Milestone’s core super heroes against each other for the future of Dakota, as Hardware discovers a time machine and puts it to work altering the history of the world.”

In addition Lee announced another new Milestone project, the Milestone 30th Anniversary Special. The new one-shot “will feature stories celebrating the breadth and depth of the Dakotaverse,” with stories by Chuck Brown, Stephanie Williams, Denys Cowan, Nikolas Draper Ivey, Yasmin Flores Montanez and others.

Draper Ivey will both write and draw a story for it that teams an adult Static with Batman Beyond. He also drew a variant cover featuring both of them:

Icon vs. Hardware kicks off Feb. 14, while the Milestone 30th Anniversary Special arrives a week later on Feb. 21.
