Scarlet Witch ‘will evolve in a fascinating way’ this January

Issue #10 marks the end of the series, for now, by Steve Orlando and Sara Pichelli.

It sounds like the current (and really fun) Scarlet Witch series by Steve Orlando, Sara Pichelli, and Lorenzo Tammetta will come to an end with issue #10, but fear not — Marvel promises the series will “evolve in a fascinating way this January, before ultimately returning later next year.”

In the meantime, November’s issue finds Wanda dueling with her new arch-villian, Hexfinder.

Scarlet Witch has been the gig of a lifetime—one that’s challenged me, surprised me, and brought me together with some of the greatest collaborators I’ve ever been lucky enough to work with,” Orlando said. “And we’re far from done—I can’t wait for folks to see what we’ve been conjuring up next, something that celebrates a massive milestone for Wanda and her family, and explodes this current season up into something gonzo, blockbuster, and bursting with power. Wanda will return stronger, bolder, and more powerful than ever—and not alone!”

Oni announces a third ‘Choose Your Own Adventure’ graphic novel

Stephanie Phillips and Dani Bolinho bring ‘Forecast from Stonehenge’ to comics.

Oni Press will release a third Choose Your Own Adventure adaptation next year by Grim writer Stephanie Phillips and Dani Bolinho, who drew the first CYOA adaptation.

Forecast from Stonehenge, based on the prose novel by R. A. Montgomery, follows Journey Under the Sea and Eighth Grade Witch. And like the other novels and graphic novels in the series, it gives the reader the opportunity to choose what happens next at certain points in the story.

“I was excited to help bring a choose your own adventure story to comics and expand the audience of readers who get to experience this fun and unique format,” Phillips said. “As a kid, I loved CYOA stories because they allowed me to take an active role in the story being told, and thanks to Dani Bolinho’s art I think readers will absolutely feel like they are being pulled into the world of Forecast from Stonehenge.”

Christine Larsen’s ‘Orcs!’ return in December

The appropriately titled miniseries ‘The Gift’ will arrive just in time for the holiday season.

Christine Larsen will return to the world of her Orcs! series this winter for Orcs! The Gift, which wraps up the trilogy of miniseries published through BOOM! Studios’ KaBOOM! imprint.

“I’m stoked to finally reach the culmination of this trilogy, where my characters are put to a true test, and I can test my own ability to balance the dramatic moments and the comedy of this series,” said Larsen. “I hope everyone enjoys this final arc as much as I’ve enjoyed crafting it.”

Larsen has been working on Orcs! for at least a decade now, if you go back to the art books she self-published and crowdfunded before BOOM! started publishing the series. You can read more about their pre-BOOM! history here.
