Spider-Man is older, ‘wiser,’ a husband + dad in ‘Ultimate Spider-Man’

Jonathan Hickman and Marco Checchetto’s new series will give Spider-Man’s marriage more than one more day.

Jonathan Hickman and Marco Checchetto’s Ultimate Spider-Man will “zag” instead of “zig” when it debuts in January. Instead of taking the approach of the original Ultimate Universe, where Spider-Man was rebooted as a teenager, they plan to present an older Spider-Man, who is married with a family.

So it’s more Renew Your Vows, less Miles Morales.

“When we decided that we were going to do a book about an older Peter Parker becoming Spider-Man, we really wanted to lean into him starting his super hero life from a very different place than what’s traditionally expected,” Hickman told Marvel.com. “Peter and MJ being married is one of many decisions we made that underline this being quite a ‘different’ kind of Spider-Man story.”

Scarlet Witch ‘will evolve in a fascinating way’ this January

Issue #10 marks the end of the series, for now, by Steve Orlando and Sara Pichelli.

It sounds like the current (and really fun) Scarlet Witch series by Steve Orlando, Sara Pichelli, and Lorenzo Tammetta will come to an end with issue #10, but fear not — Marvel promises the series will “evolve in a fascinating way this January, before ultimately returning later next year.”

In the meantime, November’s issue finds Wanda dueling with her new arch-villian, Hexfinder.

“Scarlet Witch has been the gig of a lifetime—one that’s challenged me, surprised me, and brought me together with some of the greatest collaborators I’ve ever been lucky enough to work with,” Orlando said. “And we’re far from done—I can’t wait for folks to see what we’ve been conjuring up next, something that celebrates a massive milestone for Wanda and her family, and explodes this current season up into something gonzo, blockbuster, and bursting with power. Spider-Gwen and The Mary Janes will hit the road in December

Marvel announced ‘Spider-Gwen: On Tour’ by Melissa Flores and Enid Balám in San Diego.

The ever-popular Spider-Gwen will return in a new miniseries this December by writer Melissa Flores and artist Enid Balám.

Spider-Gwen: On Tour will feature Gwen and her band, the Mary Janes, opening a for a major act on their tour — a major act that a mysterious assassin has their sights on.
