Jonathan Hickman + friends bring Substack SF universe ‘Three Worlds/Three Moons’ to Dark Horse

The sprawling space opera, which has more than 37,000 subscribers, arrives in comic shops in July with a prestige-format one-shot.

Dark Horse Comics is bringing the Three Worlds/Three Moons comics by Jonathan Hickman, Mike Del Mundo, Mike Huddleston, Nick Spencer and many more to print, beginning with a 32-page one-shot titled Foundations in July.

“We are incredibly excited for the opportunity to partner with Dark Horse so that comic stores and comic fans can get to experience this project that has been years in the making,” Hickman said.

The Three Worlds/Three Moons line debuted on Substack back in 2021, as part of a wave of digital comics that were hosted on the platform, along with James Tynion IV, Saladin Ahmed, Skottie Young, Jeff Lemire, Chip Zdarsky and several others. It was part of a bigger push by Substack to recruit content creators of all sorts to its subscription-model service — some of whom turned out to be less than desirable additions.

But for the creators, it was said to be a lucrative deal, and they used the platform to deliver content to paid subscribers. Until they didn’t. Many creators shifted away from the paid model once their first year was up; some turned their newsletters into promotional tools, while others left the platform altogether. In most cases, the print comics they were producing also had print deals in place, either before they started or soon after; comics like Christopher Chaos and Fishflies eventually arrived from publishers like Dark Horse and Image Comics.

Ben 10’s original creators reunite for new comic series from Dynamite Entertainment in May

The Man of Action collective of Joe Casey, Joe Kelly, Duncan Rouleau and Steven T. Seagle return to the franchise they created with a revamped origin story launching in May.

Dynamite Entertainment announced that their upcoming Ben 10 series will launch in May.

Originally announced last October, the Ben 10 comic series will feature stories by the original creators of the Ben 10 TV show — who also happen to be comic creators, so it works from all angles. The Man of Action collective made up of Joe Casey, Joe Kelly, Duncan Rouleau and Steven T. Seagle will drive the series, with each partner scripting individual story arcs in turn.

“As original creators of the entire Ben 10 phenomenon, this comic book is a huge deal for us,” Casey said. “For Ben 10 fans, both new and old, we’re committed to giving you everything you could possibly want in this series. We’ve got every previous incarnation to draw from and we’re not holding anything back. I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again… this is the most ‘Absolute’ Ben 10 you can get!”

Robert Kirkman + Cory Walker reunite to introduce a new character in ‘Capes’ #7

The Invincible co-creators will introduce Ella Mental, a new character debuting in comics and the upcoming ‘Invincible VS’ video game, in a series of back-up stories.

Invincible co-creators Robert Kirkman and Cory Walker will reunite to introduce Ella Mental, a new Invincible Universe character, in a series of back-up stories running through Capes #7–12.

Ella Mental, who possesses the power to command earth, wind, fire and water, will also make her debut in Invincible VS, an upcoming 3-on-3 tag fighting game from Skybound and its in-house studio Quarter Up, launching April 30. The back-up stories in Capes will tell her origin.

“I’m so excited Capes is continuing to tell stories set in the Invincible Universe but why not also GROW the Invincible Universe at the same time?!” Kirkman said. “It’s great to be working with Cory Walker again, creating a new character, in Ella Mental. You’ll love her in Invincible VS when that game launches, and you’ll get to read her origin story in Capes. How cool is that? I plan to be creating characters with Cory Walker forever!”

Five-issue ‘Avengers: Armageddon’ series will launch in June

Chip Zdarsky, Frank Alpizar and Delio Diaz will set up a new era for the Avengers.

Marvel officially announced today that Avengers: Armageddon, a five-issue event series written by Chip Zdarsky with art by Frank Alpizar and Delio Diaz, will launch June 3. The event was first teased last year.

The series draws on storylines and themes Zdarsky has been seeding in his run on Captain America and the current Wolverine: Weapons of Armageddon prelude series, and will lead directly into a new era of Avengers launching later this year.

The first issue of Weapons of Armageddon dropped yesterday, and if it’s any indication of what to expect, this should be a fun, character-focused story. Zdarsky has done a nice job setting it up both in that series and in his Captain America run.

‘2000 AD’ will return to U.S. comic shops every week beginning in May

The long-running British anthology, home to Judge Dredd and a galaxy of original series, will be printed and distributed within the U.S. for the first time in its 49-year history.

British comics publisher Rebellion announced at ComicsPro today that 2000 AD will return to American comic shops on a weekly basis beginning in May, in partnership with Lunar Distribution. It marks the first time in the anthology’s 49-year history that individual issues will be printed and distributed within the United States.

Under the new arrangement, American readers will receive issues of 2000 AD just two weeks after the UK on-sale date — an upgrade from the months we previously had to wait for copies. Issues will also no longer be poly-bagged. Retailers can begin ordering through Lunar’s March edition of its “Next Phase” catalog.

IDW Publishing will launch two new ‘Star Trek’ ongoing series to mark franchise’s 60th anniversary

Christopher Cantwell and Charlie Jane Anders will helm new titles arriving in September and October, with additional one-shots and specials planned throughout 2026.

IDW Publishing announced this week a major expansion of its Star Trek comics line timed to the franchise’s 60th anniversary, headlined by two new ongoing series launching this fall.

A new Star Trek #1 arrives in September from writer Christopher Cantwell and artist Dennis Menheere.

“As we look back on 60 years of Star Trek, we celebrate a story universe that has actually always been about looking forward — a shared dream swirling within the daunting wonder and awe of the stars,” Cantwell said. “I discovered Star Trek at the age of 10 and my life was never the same. The worlds, the people, the stories that wrestled with the work it takes to build community and consensus, to establish and hold sacred values like peace and harmony, the tenuousness of truce amid a galaxy of agendas and perspectives. That is the magic of Star Trek — the kaleidoscopic wonder of its complex themes and notions.”
